Seems useful for finding configuration files that sometimes move around, change name or differ by distribution since those are likely not going to change location once present. Makes finding that forum post about the file more useful if you can locate where it is on your system.

There used to be something I'd install that would index all my thousands of pdf books. I forget whether it did the epubs and such. Or whether it was able to handle text files. Maybe you can find this and do a video on it.

So basically a less versatile MS Dos dir command with an index. I just wish it was a more well known baseline feature, so often have I missed something exactly like this, and this is the first time I have ever heard of it 😅

I wish there was a simple option to tell locate to start at the current directory. I know you can use regex the do that, but you'd think "start at current directory" would be a popular request,
