I bought a 4 pin trailer light tester from Harbor Freight for $3.59. I plugged it in and it disabled auto stop/start with zero side effects. It's about the size of a matchbook and it works perfectly.

God bless you! One of the most annoying 'features' being forced down people's throats. People should have an easy way to turn that off permanently in the owner's manual if they find it annoying. We are all treated like children now.

It worked perfectly fine! I had no issues after being unplugged. Only down side, the MPG dropped.

There is a better option there is a plug connecter on the negative cable of the battery that can be unplugged.

Forget unplugging. I stuck a paper clip in the button to hold it in and haven’t had a problem with it. No more start stop!

Tried this on my Ranger, the connection I have to unplug is under the hood, but I haven’t had any issues. I’ve driven a F150 that has had the function disabled for months now and hasn’t had any issues at all, and now thinking of doing it to my F150

Is there any issues with the truck thinking there is a trailer attached and changing the settings such as tow mode or braking changes?

I hate that auto start stop but I don’t want to disable the trailer lights so I guess it’s the push the button deal everytime I drive.

I have the 2016 Ford F150 XLT 2.7 turbo eco. I can disable this with one push of the off button. Maybe the 2016 was designed differently? Any comments I’ll respond to.

I have a 2019 F150. My truck does not look like this under the paneling by the steering wheel. Could the module be located elsewhere?

That box is not on my 2020 XLT with tow package and many other sites explain why not to do that.

So I am a dealer technician and I made a video about 10 months ago explaining why this is a terrible idea and you should not do this and the problems that I have run into one specifically being it creates communication issues and it also disable certain things on the vehicle like

Your one touch lock unlock for your handles malfunction

can disable your trunk electronic push-button release

Also can set communication codes in the computer that will disable certain things and create a communication error backup or Jam

Do not do this mod

the manufacturer will not pay us if you bring your vehicle to the dealer and we are honest WHICH IS THS RIGHT THING and tell them the customer unplugged a connector and it caused all this. They will laugh and tell us they will not pay us anything for our time

Do not under any circumstances unplug this connector under warranty and expect to go to the dealer with issues and we find it is a connector issue YOU unplugged and expect to walk away with out being charged

I know it's annoying but you bought the vehicle and knew it had auto start-stop Just Push The Button

it's not hard

You dont have to do this. Here's what to do: go into the features menu on your infotainment system. Tap on towing. Then tap on select active trailer. Choose default trailer. Done! Auto start stop will be disabled!
