Why not work permits instead of immigration? Issue work permits to non-citizens when labor is needed; revoke them when it is not. That would satisfy our need for labor and placate those that fear our country being overrun by outsiders.

Hindsight has 20-20 vision. No other president had to take over government during a pandemic when the previous government tried to overturn the legally elected president by insurrection. Most of the government departments were headed by hand picked cronies who had no clue of handling their positions but happy with the power & financial status. The country was deeply divided by party over country policy & the conspiracy beliefs of the cult of a con man. Inflation is not just in the USA, it’s a world wide problem caused by a pandemic & exacerbated by Putin’s urge to rebuild the Soviet Union. Mistakes were undoubtedly made, the biggest being that bipartisanship could be returned to government after the 2020 election. There is still a large portion of government officials spouting ‘stolen election’, conspiratorial statements publicly proclaimed, but worst of all denial of the treasonous attempt to refuse the peaceful transfer of power.
