There are lots of places to advertise and Yelp is a good one to consider. If you have a Yelp listing for your local business, you've probably been contacted by a Yelp salesperson about investing in Yelp advertising to boost your listing on their website.

In this video, I talk about how Yelp advertising works and who it might be good for. I also give a quick comparison to Google Ads along with a suggestion of how to use Google Ads in conjunction with Yelp.

A sales rep name Anthony gave me a call. Had me set up yelp ads and mentioned the first 6 months will be covered up to $150 a month. He mentioned I won't be charged a thing. After 3 days I was charged $175.37 for 13 people clicking my ad. That's roughly $14/click and didn't get one client. After call Yelp to fix things they said no refund and now I get 0 of the credit and must pay the entire amount. Will never do business with Yelp again.

I have a different experience than @Raymond Mills. We received inquiries, but most were people just window shopping or looking for the cheapest option. No thanks! We want people who need service and are willing to pay for a great service, because that's what we provide. So if people want estimates on YELP, I charge for my or managers time - sad but that's the people on Yelp.

Yelp has not worked for me. I have a small software development firm and advertised with yelp. I got virtually no clicks, none. When I spoke to my marketing rep she suggested I wait a little while and change my call to action. The problem is they have lots of promises but don’t generate traffic.

As a business owner, I got scammed by Yelp. Their free advertising campaign cost me hundreds of dollars on my credit card. I had to file with my credit card company to get my money back.

I've been in jail for viewer for a few years and I'm getting extremely suspicious of them. One thing I've noticed is that if I give a good review my readership seems to go up and if I give a bad review it seems to go down, immediately.
But now I've noticed something more disturbing. They have a person who supposedly likes my reviews and follows me around town.if I give a bad review I noticed he shows up at the restaurant soon afterward with a review point by point rebutting everything I said but without saying so. This is the company by a message from him to me on the Yelp app that I should reconsider because I may be wrong.
I wondered if any Yelp reviewers have noticed the same phenomenon?
