Come learn with me how to make Epoxy Resin River-flow Coasters -an awesome epoxy resin project for beginners like myself.

These turned out so well, and are really going to make great gifts. This was my first time using epoxy resin and so I know you can do it as well. It is a funny and rewarding do-it-yourself project.

Please feel free to ask me any questions about this DIY Project and share your own epoxy projects with me! I would love to hear/see what other people are doing! I hope to have inspired you to get after your own projects!

For those who may be curious, I used Total Boat Thickset Epoxy and Black Diamond Pigment bought on Amazon. The links below are affiliate links that help support the channel.

I was largely inspired by the following video put together by Jacob Elliot:

Not 100% sure why you got streaks in your resin. However, it may have been due to the form not being level and when the pigments were settling to the bottom they were flowing in one you want to have swirls in your finish keep going back to your epoxy and swirling it with a stick to bring those metallics back to the surface. I swirl mine every 30 mins for about 2.5 hrs until the epoxy is too thick and it works great.

I think your project turned out awesome. I just bought some woodworking tools and now I can't wait to start making my own coasters. Great job.

How does the poly wear over time? Looking to try this myself on award plaques, and seeing most cutting boards and table videos use oil. But think I will try your poly route instead since an award doesn’t need to be cut on or food safe. Thanks!

Hi I'd like to make a sign for my friends boat. So I would be outside. What else would I have to put on to protect it?

Not sure if this has been asked yet but you said the base layer was already in. What do you mean by that and if there is a clear layer below the blue won’t it show on the ends when all is done??

love the colors.
maybe route out your name, a squiggly line routed out underneath and all routing filled in with an epoxy color you like using an led strip on the back to light up the epoxy. use on a shelf or wall hanging?

I just bought my first gallon of epoxy and considered the coasters also, does that tyvek tape stop leaks when you make small dams like that?

new to this myself. Why did you pour a clear layer first as opposed to doing one single color pour?

Continue to swirl the epoxy until it is just starting to set up. 2- 2.5 hours.. You don't need to do it often. Once an hour or so until you get a pattern you like.
