HYPR Custom Controllers: Big Problems and Their Solutions

I have seen an unacceptable bounty of complaints from ordered and received customers of HYPR custom controllers. I will share what the problem(s) are and the plan moving forward according to the company. Finally I will give you my thoughts towards purchasing a Hall Effect Custom in the near future.

Im glad this video exists. I too have a small story to tell and hope this can get some sort of attention. I honestly didnt really mind too much about the 5 months i had to wait on my custom built controller. I got 2 back buttons, damascus skin, hall effect sticks on both sticks, light tension on both sticks. So i enjoyed my controller up til the point Helldivers 2 came out, i then notice that when you are walking around in the ship i wasnt walking at full speed in the forward direction, like moving the stick all the way forward was not inputting full sensitivity and once in game play, and on anther shooter i tried, black ops 3 on PC, i noticed that if you click in the left stick to sprint, if you move the left stick ever so slightly to the left it cancels the sprint action, unlike moving it towards the right side, it never canceled the sprint action. I sent an email, theey asked me to send a picture from gamepad tester, i could tell from that on the left stick it was ever so slightly noticeable that the top left of the radius it wasnt going all the way forward. Sent them the screenshot and still no reply. Pretty sure i cant return it.

I am not hearing anything about Carbxn Controllers. Small company out of Australia. I bought a custom controller (4 back buttons, custom face, Hall Effect thumbsticks, hair triggers, etc) and it’s amazing. I haven’t seen any reviews on YT about them and I gotta say this is the best controller I’ve ever used. Will update if things change but Gamer Heaven needs to review a Carbxn controller. Also, there are videos of a controller repair guy from the UK tearing apart a Hypr Controller and the whole thing is cheap af. He goes into detail about why the controller is poorly made and then removes a bunch of the cheap parts and replaces them. Those vids are really worth watching if you’re interested in Hypr.

EDIT: from the date I purchased the Carbxn Controller to receiving (build time + shipping from AUS to US) it was 15 days.

I ordered mine back in october and received it this month. It has HE sticks but left analogue has a calibration problem. I discussed the problem with hyper with only one solution which was to turn off the controller 😂. Now I want to return it and haven’t heard from them since I asked.

I ordered mine on December 1, 2023 and they just shipped it today. 4 months and one week. I emailed them multiple times and they gave me $25 off my next order. Why would I order anything from them again after this horrible wait time that was supposed to be 4-7 weeks. If I would have known it was going to take this long I would have paid a little bit more money for a scuf or battle beaver. My controllers price was $264 and I pray that I didn’t just waste that much money. But we will see 😅. It will be here next Tuesday. Wish me luck guys.

After 4 months of waiting, I received my custom HYPR, and it came exactly how I ordered. It's my go-to controller, and I'll order another when they have digital face and d pad buttons for us. After watching this video, I believe things will get better for HYPR.

DO NOT I REPEAT DO NOT BUY A HYPR! I bought one after watching a stallion video on hyper and after a little research I found out how abysmal their quality control is and how bad their customer support is. After canceling my order, they wanted to charge me 20% restocking fee and 10% cancellation fee. Guess what they didn’t have a cancellation fee on their website until I wrote them about it and told them I’m not paying any of these fees. I could go on

Ordered a controller with he sticks mouse clicks and 5 back buttons with a custom layout in November. Got the controller in December and it didn't have the 5 buttons we discussed or the custom layout for the other 4, and on top of that, the he sticks weren't calibrated correctly and had stick drift upon arrival. Sent it back late december and still havnt got it back yet.

Dude!! True story... last evening I was about to pull the trigger on an Aim V3 Pro with HE sticks but I kept seeing comments on reddit that even with the V3 paddles people were still having problems with them breaking. Yes they're warrantied but I'm not into the down time. Yes I could have bought extra paddles as other ppl on reddit have done but you're still F'ed in the A when your extras break too! So today I was about to put in an order with Hypr but then this video popped up! You saved me a lot of grief Kevin, thanks so much! For now I'm gonna go ahead and get an DS Edge (even though the stick modules are SOLD OUT EVERYWHERE) and if Hypr's issues get sorted in the coming weeks/months I'll consider getting a controller from them. Thanks dude you're the man!!

Commenting on my Hypr Tournament controller.
Ordered the controller on Feb 7th, received it on Feb 14th.
Out of the box there was a problem with the D-Pad. It kept clicking down and when I would squeeze the controller it would release the down button. So I decided to open the controller and just loosen the screw under the battery and it seems to have fixed my problem.
Left thumbstick has a circularity of 4% and the right with 8.1%. And I can play on zero deadzone.
Only complaint I have with the controller is the face buttons are too mushy for my liking so I'd love to see clicky face buttons.
Seems that I got lucky with my controller and I tell others that are interested to purchase with caution!

I just received my custom hypr Xbox controller the other day. My complaints about the service: It took 3 months to get it, which is longer than the initial 6-8 weeks ETA. There is no customer service number you can call. You can only email them. They responded the first time I reached out to them, but the second time I reached out they kinda ghosted me for a week but then eventually responded.

As far the controller itself. It came with everything I ordered on it. Nothing came broke. It functions well. The remap chip works. Looks great. My complaints about the controller: It has the same input delay as a stock Xbox controller (8ms), which is disappointing. Also, nothing is adjustable. For example, I chose light tension on the sticks, b/c I wanted to try it out. And I’m not a fan, but there isn’t anyway to adjust it like the elite series 2 and the flydigi apex 4 has. So be sure whatever you choose on your controller, you’re completely sure about.

Overall, the experience wasn’t that bad. The customer service is a little shady. And I wish they were honest about the ETA. 3 months isn’t that bad tbh, but I wish they were more up front about it b/c I was kinda in the dark the whole time b/c there’s not much communication. But the controller is pretty good. It comes with everything you choose, but pick wisely b/c there’s no adjusting anything.

i wouldn’t even say the “pre assembled” ones are the way to go i would just steer away from this company in general i’ve bought two controllers one fully customer which took 3 months and then i ordered a FPS signature with HE sticks in NOVEMBER and it’s February and my order is stuck in “Quality Testing” waste of my time

Wow, I was just on the builder for a controller, on HYPR website a few weeks back. So glad I didn't pull the trigger. Am on PC, rocking GameSir G7, and GameSir Kaleid-I like the Xbox style for playing Apex.
I think I am going to shy away from HYPR for abit, give them a few months to figure things out. Great excuse to check out their competition, ...starts with an A.

Thanks for shedding some light as to what has been happening. It sounds like some quality concerns, as well as work-flow within the company need assessing.

Placed an order for one back in November. Still haven't gotten anything from HYPR. Their customer service reps were responsive when I was asking general questions, but stopped responding altogether as soon as I asked about cancelling/refunding my order. Not a great look.

Dec - May! They finally shipped my controller 6 months later and didnt decide to do so until i had messaged them six times after they told me that I was in the testing phase for 2 months. I swear if i didnt say anything they wouldve never gotten mine out any sooner and it wouldve been collecting dust the entire time while everyone else gets theirs refurbished cause they messed up so badly. I just hope it can last cause i heard everybody was breaking still. I bet all their customer service representatives keep quitting ive talking to multiple people instead of the one lady in the beginning
