Andrew D. Huberman is an American neuroscientist and associate professor in the Department of Neurobiology at the Stanford University School of Medicine who has made many contributions to the brain development, brain plasticity, and neural regeneration and repair fields. Much of his work is focused on the visual system, including the mechanisms controlling light-mediated activation of the circadian and autonomic arousal centers in the brain, as well as brain control over conscious vision or sight.

Huberman has been credited with coining the term "Non-Sleep Deep Rest" (NSDR), referring to practices that place the brain and body into shallow sleep to accelerate neuroplasticity and help offset mental and physical fatigue.

Reject instant gratification, embrace discipline.

I am 70 and it blows my mind to think how simply we all lived back in the 50's and 60's. I walked everywhere, went to the library on a bus, played sports outside every day with friends, read a few hours a day. I sewed our clothes, did crafts, and did not watch much T.V. I hate how the internet has impacted society. My daughter never calls because she texts me..not the same. Because she texts me she doesn't feel like she needs to see me much.

The Irony of putting this advice in a reel!

Another thing Andrew said in another video is that hard work with no expected reward at the end increases baseline, which in turn allows for more hardwork!

I shall sacrifice for two weeks... To better my self and my spiritual connection with the most high.

It’s basically all about relativity. How “fulfilling” something is, is relative to the highest dopamine-releasing activity. If your highest is watching porn (high dopamine), everything else will feel pretty unfulfilling. Another way of visualizing it: see doing a dopamine-releasing activity as stretching an elastic band. The higher the dopamine release, the further it stretches. If you keep stretching it alot by watching porn every day, it loses its elasticity like you lose fulfillment in small activities like walking outside with your dog

thank U 4 all those lil' videos.
I knew a minimum about the dopamine role but not as precisely and withing time I started 2 forget how to not abuse it.
a good good reminder.

I found myself getting enjoyment from how many days I’d fasted once I’d made it around a fortnight into my fast so this makes sense it became my new goal one more day which would become one more week etc

I did this myself and it works wonders. I'd say 90 days was necessary for me but I was an 8-16 hour gamer depending on work and sleep everyday for over a decade.

If the general consensus is within a 80 range with reviews we know that we have a competent, put together game. That in the HP universe is amazing to me.

Its the same with everything that releases a chemical or chemicals you intake you can become desensitized to the effects or build up a resistance to any chemical taking a break from things that increase those in the body resets your resistance to it.

As a kid I would draw and explore. I miss that. Now I feel the patience to make art is a rarity. I can play guitar addictively though. I suspect its the instant reward it gives. Nearly 30 years into that druuuug

I really appreciate this. Praying for the strength and help to quit . At least take a break for a while. I feel desperately addicted to tech

Ok how do you fast from phone? I tried to give my mom my phone but it only lasted half a day. I actually need my phone for work.
