A six-year-old girl who found a message from a prisoner in China inside a Tesco Christmas card has said she "thought it was a prank".

Florence Widdicombe told Sky News "it was really weird" to find the note in the charity card.

The message read: "We are foreign prisoners in Shanghai Qingpu prison China. Forced to work against our will. Please help us and notify human rights organisation."

Why does the girl look so sophisticated and wise in the thumbnail

This seems like a scene from a girl who won a Willy Wonka Golden Ticket

By publishing this they have just alerted the Chinese authorities about the issue and have encouraged them to take more action to prevent things like this from being leaked out. The media should have stayed quiet and the family should have quietly alerted Humphrey.

The title immediately reminded me of the old fortune cookie joke. The fortune in the cookie said "help, I'm being held prisoner in a fortune cookie factory".

This news is a good test to identify an idiot from normal people.

Maybe he wrote that card himself and put it on the shelf in Tesco

A cute little girl finds a letter written in English from a Chinese factory to spread awareness of human rights just in time for Christmas. Very convenient.

What better way to promote Mr Humphrey's new book.

Prisoners forced to pack Christmas cards? A very hard regime as convicted prisoners are legally obliged, even in the UK to work. Also taking a scrawed note as gospel truth is more than naive, its irresponsible!

Seems a little strange to me,
I just wonder how many Chinese prisoners can write perfect English 🤔
