It's weird how they expect "the public's concern" to be on condemning murder and feeling bad for the family when "the public" they're referring to is all currently as people who have been victimized by the American health insurance system.

I just don’t understand why it is so easy to have the ‘vigilante justice is bad’ conversation but so hard to acknowledge the thousands of deaths caused by our healthcare system every year. Two things can be true at the same time.

You can't buy good health, but when you pay for health care coverage, you have a right to expect to receive the benefits you pay for. When it is denied ... it harms us financially, emotionally, AND physically.

Murder is wrong, I wanted to make sure I say that but in June 2024 we had hundreds of patients we had to tell they were being discharged from PT, OT, ST, and nursing because this insurance provider was no longer covering therapy services. I had a 55 year old female who had had a accident and required extensive therapy to regain basic function like being able to say “yes/no” and feed herself. These patients were shocked and devastated but had no options because until the end of the year they couldn’t switch insurance and others won’t be able to switch even then. Meanwhile insurance upper management are paying themselves millions but not providing coverage promised.

"cold and calculated, put lives at risk, offensive to our deeply held principles of justice" She thinks she's talking about Mangione, but all of this applies to Brian Thompson's behavior. And they lose credibility when they call it 'senseless'. Like if it doesn't make sense to you, ask someone to explain it because plenty of people, even if they don't think it was right thing to do, understand why.

I just lost my husband after 2 1/2 years of battling cancer and had to battle the insurance company and the doctor/hospital/clinics to get authorizations, approvals and probably due to my persistence experience delay after delay i. Treatments. Which I believe resulted in his death. But I was told a couple of times that he wouldn’t be approved for a certain treatment because it was too expensive but I kept calling and pushing and some how was able to be the sqeaky wheel and finally got approval. Only for it nit to be timely enough to save his life. It’s absolutely disgusting!!!

I wish the media would be more specific and say "There are some celebrating his death, and some who are making it clear they don't condone violence but healthcare needs to be improved in major ways." But of course they wouldn't because that's not sensational enough.

A fiery delivery from the authorities about Luigi's actions. If only they mustered the same fire for United Healthcare's victims, maybe people wouldn't be celebrating the death of a CEO.

I do feel terrified of the health insurance industry though.

It is an abomination that there isn't even an ounce of sympathy for the patients who have died as a result of denied claims for healthcare procedures by the UHC.

Not one of these big shot beaucrates have expressed any sympathy or empathy for the pain and sorrows the families of the deceased patients had to endure, due to the actions of UHC! Where's the Justice for the deceased patients and their families ? What a shame profit over lives! Watch Sicko by Michael Moore!

It seems that a CEO's life is valued over the many lives lost from the denials, this is horrific!

The public has the right to be outraged! Even doctors have come forward expressing frustrations etc, etc. It's an outcry for reform and whatnot!

It's a shame that this young man took this route to address his frustrations over the corruption of the healthcare industry.

There are over 68, 000 people that die yearly because of denied healthcare, and theyre stressing over one wealthy CEO! Do the research!

Isn't it a form indirect or even direct action of terrorism to denied necessary healthcare procedures? My God, this is lack of compassion in the 1st degree! The healtcare industry should be held accountable for all those deaths!

If this is considered terrorism then all those who have been charged with SA & murder of a woman should also be charged with terrorism. You don’t think we feel terror after a crime like that is committed in our town? Those poor CEOs can get used to it. Just like we have to.

I cannot believe how disbelieving & furious I am to hear this charged as an act of terrorism. Are you 🤬🤬 kidding me? Are they actually admitting the execs like this have such power in our country that this murder is on the level of a targeted attack on an elected person or government official? It just feels like a gross & ridiculous overreach for them to speak that charge with their whole chest. Ignoring the job of the victim & motives of the shooter, this is just a premeditated, targeted murder caught completely on film. It has become something so overblown & throwing "act of terrorism" is like adding gasoline instead of trying to put the fire out. They should be wanting to calm this whole situation down, go with the harshest, simplest charge & get a quick plea deal or prosecution done. Coverage of this has been so inescapable & it is just going to get worse if they want to call this kid a terrorist. They're scared of the online rhetoric that someone may be inspired by this act? Let's call it terrorism so that people who are so inclined look at one guy killing another being called an act of terrorism & go hold my beer.

I can't imagine living in a country where the choice could be 'live but be in devastating debt forever' or 'die'.

The mutual back slapping and word fluff at the start of these press conferences really annoys me!!! 🤦‍♀️

Mitchell Epner, a former federal prosecutor who now practices privately, told Forbes he thinks the terrorism charge is “performative” and may make it harder to convict Mangione

The commissioner who spoke needs to understand that we have a right to free speech and that she doesn't speak for ANY of us. I applaud the outcry from EVERYONE on social media!

I'm curious how they can play up the danger to residents when they themselves said from the beginning the residents / public were not in danger. Also, if people were so scared, how was he a folk hero? Seems interesting
