Wow this really helped! I play on a 7 year old laptop and it runs pretty smooth but every once in a while it lags but not a lot. You just earned a new sub!

I just got a pretty detailed texture pack and better leaves so my game was near unplayable sometimes even though I had optifine. This really helped! There is still a bit of lag but not nearly as much as before.

Biome Blend only decreases FPS when a *biome border is generated or updated, * because MC caches the color map for the entire border. Same applies to smooth lighting, but light updates happen literally everywhere and very frequently, even in adventure mode (but obviously reduced).

In early versions of MC, the day-night cycle caused a lot of lag at dawn because MC cached the light map *FOR EACH GAME TICK, * now MC keeps a secondary cache to perform an optimized dawn transition.

Setting particles to "Minimal" affects gameplay a lot, because *you can't see when did you tame a pet or a horse, * you can't see any "love particles" because they are set to 0, that's why I prefer "Decreased".

I recommend to set the render and simulation distance to 8 or 6, for farms, spawning, and redstone machines to work correctly, and set it to 12 or 16 when exploring new places *at daytime.* Exploring at night with high chunk distances is a bad idea because it causes both client and server lag (even local server lag in singleplayer) making it difficult to escape or fight monsters
