With new computer parts rumored to be around the corner, should you wait, or should you buy computer parts now? And with the Tariffs possibly coming in next year, this complicates things even further!

Purchases made through some store links may provide some compensation to Linus Media Group.

This is gonna get loads of hate, but it's an incredibly honest and measured take that lays out the details clearly. Math is math

What I hate about this is that even though I'm not in the US, manufacturers are going to also charge customers outside the US more, just to cover the losses in the US market, because the American market is always babied by every manufacturer in the world.

Yes, because it’s the most wonderful time of the year.

You can try to avoid politics, but politics will never avoid you. Great video

Took you advice last time, not for tariffs but for "possible Covid disruptions" in early 2020. Much thanks.

Man. Way to disguise a highly educational video as a buyers guide. Thank you for this.

The innocence of some people thinking companies will absorb the tax cost out of the kindness of their hearts.

I have never commented but damm Linus saying truths like these " Our standard of living in the western world is enabled by unfettered access to cheap overseas labor" has got to be my Love the harsh truths, misaligned expectations part and finally an acknowledgement about all of this !!!! Loved the video

You know this are bad when Linus makes a video on said tariffs, but I’m glad he did so people can fully see how these work and what will happen in the future to us consumers.

Guys the last time he warned us to buy a GPU or build a PC (the pandemic, chip shortage, and scalpers) he was right, very very right. I'd trust his opinion again.

Math is political now that some states removed it to graduate

"unfair access to overseas labor."
Yeah. This is one of those things we really don't think about in tech.
Thanks for pointing it out.

I'd rather have developers focus on optimizing their programming than having to rely on horsepower just to clear their 60fps benchmark

Another important point about foreign tariffs is that when prices of Chinese imports increase, domestic manufacturers usually increase their prices as well to boost up their margins. This is because if an imported good is now 100$ instead of 50$, domestic sellers almost always choose to increase their prices to 90$ and get a better margin while still undercutting the imported goods by 10$. So tariffs are a lose-lose for the consumers, whether you prefer to buy imported goods or not.

Every time you consider upgrading there will be something "just around the corner".

As someone who prints outside of the country, I was advised to buy more than I needed before January.

We looked at local printing, it's still 2x more expensive to print locally than abroad. Our future pricing will be going up by about 50% for what we have to pay.

I still can't grasp the fact that the people who say they voted for "lower prices" proceeded to vote for the guy who wants to put tariffs on everything. You don't need a degree in economics to know that increased cost to the manufacturer means increased price to the customer... or maybe you apparently do?
