Just Happened! Elon Musk Announced NEW Starship Flight 5 Launch Date...
Deep in flames, stepping towards flight!
We were still captivated by the recent static fire test of Ship 30, but SpaceX just had to go and surprise us with a fresh perspective by sharing another viewing angle of the test. There’s much to discuss here.
Additionally, Elon Musk made an important revelation about the new launch schedule for Flight 5. Are you ready?
And finally, the Falcon 9 has returned after a two-week hiatus, exceeding all our expectations.
So, let's kick off the new week with plenty of exciting updates on today's episode of Great SpaceX!
Just Happened! Elon Musk Announced NEW Starship Flight 5 Launch Date...
We are well on our way to Flight 5! As part of the preparations, SpaceX recently conducted a static fire test with Ship 30 (S30), the vehicle for this mission.
The test demonstrated the ongoing success and reliability of the systems, including the new heat shield and the upgraded Raptor Vacuum engine. Conducted on the flame trench system built by SpaceX earlier this year, the test was a sight to behold. From a distant angle, the moment the engines fired, the smoke and dust rising to one side created an overwhelming and impressive scene.

But this time, we get to see it from an unprecedented angle—right below the launch pad. This is quite a feat, as placing a camera in this position is typically impossible. When the engines fire, they generate massive thrust, extreme temperatures, and immense pressure that can destroy anything in their path. However, SpaceX showcased their capabilities by releasing this video on X with the message: “Slow motion view of Flight 5 Starship’s Raptor engines during static fire.” Elon Musk also reacted to the video, commenting, “Fast flame in slow motion.”
But thanks to this bold angle, we have more interesting discoveries about this test.

To be resolved, thank you.

So your title says launch date announced and the content says around the beginning of September. I really wish the titles could be more representative or what was in your video rather than Clickbait.

Click Bait. There is no announced launch date. THUMBS DOWN.

Starship Flight 5 was an important milestone in the history of space exploration. The Starship program, designed by SpaceX to take humans to Mars and beyond, aims to revolutionize space travel by providing a reusable probe capable of carrying large loads. This fifth flight underscores significant advances in technology and humanity's ambition to explore space 😘🥰😘🥰😘🥰

That was a very great view of the “Shock diamonds” (the white triangle) in the rocket exhausts 😮

Clickbait, Clickbait, Clickbait. Launch "Announcement" is really just launch "Hopeful prediction".

@2:15 The statement is incorrect. Both the Space Shuttle and the Saturn V had about twice that thrust at liftoff. The SuperHeavy Booster does generate far more thrust than any other rocket built to date but the Starship does not.

That's the problem, the FAA probably would have allowed another sea splashdown very quickly. However the land based chopstick catch attempt more than likely put the brakes on that one!

Catching the booster with the chopsticks will be one of the biggest engineering events of the decade. It will be epic!

WOW nice to have that view and access to testing

Just another example that Space X can do whatever it sets its mind to.

Wow what a shot of the test firing ! Awesome!

If they are planning a superheavy catch, that's completely new and a definite safety risk. I don't see how anyone should be surprised if the FAA doesn't just rubber stamp this.

Yes. That is an unusual angle to see the running engines.

Other than pilot advisories, I don't understand why the FAA has any authority above the Kármán line?? The Falcon 9 incident happened in orbit.... in space. Exactingly how far does their authority extend. What happens when incidents happen on the moon?? It seems to me that NASA should be the authority on space incidents.

Wow and Wow, I love the bottoms up view. As for the launch date being further delayed, I can't help but feel political events have effected the delays.

Yes, WOW. The finest view one could ask for.

Flight 5 is unlikely to be as late as September. Surely, Elon wants to fly as soon as the FAA allows!

5:08 this will also give other space companies a chance to launch their rockets such as the new glenn from blue origin even though I’m routing for both companies
