The thing that alarms me in this video is the comment that the weight of the van will be more than the cybertruck. Weight is critical for vans.

Cybertruck is already 3130kg. In Europe (including UK), drivers on standard driving licenses are permitted to drive vehicles up to 3500kg, with an extension up to either 3900kg or 4250kg (currently varies by country, but due to be harmonised across the EU at a tbd weight) for EV’s.

Additionally, such a heavy van will run into another legislative issue if it has multiple rows of seats giving up to 7 seats in total, then the vehicle would be a classed as ‘goods’ vehicle (N1/N2) & not a ‘passenger’ vehicle (M1/M2), and then the available payload needs to exceed the weight of the occupants. A nominal weight of 75kg is used for each occupant 7*75=525kg, so if the available payload was only 1000kg, then subtracting 525 from that gives 475kg which is less than the combined weight of the occupants and the vehicle would not pass the EU legislation.

So, if this van weighs, say, 3250kg, then the available payload will only be 1000kg, this is pretty poor for such a heavy vehicle & arguably the absolute minimum to make it useful as a van, & therefore commercially viable.

Weight, and the need for an acceptable payload will be restricting the size of the battery they can use, which in term restricts the range. A restricted range of, say only 150 miles, might be acceptable for some use cases, where the van is operating from a depot and operating within a short distance of that depot daily, for example a local delivery van, but, such short range may not suit a motorhome so well.
