Just because you have a doe tag, doesn't mean you need to use it. In fact, just because you use a doe tag, doesn't mean you are a good sportsman, or hunting conversationist. Although this is an exceptional time to shoot some does, that doesn't mean you should. Here is if you should go on a doe hunt during this exceptional doe hunt time and if so, where is the perfect spot to hunt and just how many should you could consider taking.

You say its doe time and that's all people hear and go out and shoot everything they see and that's sad, you are ruining hunting

Great video Jeff, I took a doe the other day with my bow. I haven’t taken a doe in many years. Was glad to get the meat to have for winter. It’s about management.

Me and the wife have hunted our area on the club lease for quite a few years in west Arkansas. Early on we went one year and never fired a shot, other years maybe take one.
We set up in an area that no other members messed with because there were no deer in there.
After a few years we had attracted deer and practiced some trigger finger management.
Now, we pick and choose, and still maintain the good breeding does, but take old dry does as we can, and I don’t see that changing.
We monitor the number of breeding does, and we dont believe we are overpopulated, and we keep food plots and minerals available year round.
Management is the key.

I have a lot of spikes do I need to place mineral rocks down this April or try and clear them out. I’ve heard they are just young bucks but I’ve seen some that have points in one side but a spike on the other.

My uncles neighbor has taken 40 doe using crop damage tags in 2 years. It’s completely decimated the herd around him.

I live in a county in Iowa that issues no Anterless tags. The private ground i hunt has tons of does. Each little pocket and herd can be different. As said. Use your judgement. If deer are sparse or, ease up. If deer are plentyful, fireaway.

You’re the reason Jeff!!! You’re to blame!!! And what do I mean by this!? You’re the man who has guided thousands of us in the right direction! You invest your time and life and have provided invaluable services back to our communities nationwide. Thank you for your sacrifice and passion to do what you do! Yes you are to blame! You are to blame for a lot of amazing wisdoms and ways for us younger hunters to pick up and utilize! Thank you sir! Thank you Jeff!

Public Land. What can I do to maintain the deer that are passing through? What size buffer do they like to hang around and drop fawns for the fall? ATV Trails? My available space gets a lot of pressure from other user types and I would like to increase my chances. My area is close cover in Eastern Canada, think Maine but more NORTH.

Gotta give credit to you Jeff i started watching your videos 5 years ago. At that point I had two deer on the wall. I now have 8 I don’t believe it’s any coincidence!! For a central New York hunter i couldn’t be more proud!! Thank you sir!!

Got a doe today around noon. Only saw a spike and a 4 point all rifle season. Today I saw 3 does. Its meat in the freezer and I still have a buck tag for flintlock season after Christmas here in PA. Thanks for all the work you guys put in, this channel has helped me immensely as a new hunter.

Agree 100% with your thoughts on this Jeff.
I wish people just took the time to think about this.
A couple of hard winters devastated the area I did most of my hunting.
It takes a lot of time for the deer to recover when you lose several year classes of deer.

I just got an 8 pointer this morning and I couldn't have had more fun. I got to hunt with my father in law and we had an awesome time. I love the channel and thank you for all the great tips and advice.

Yep not DNR’s fault Michigan public land and hard hunted private land big bucks are so hard to get. DNR is not pulling those triggers.

“Just because you have a doe tag, doesn't mean you need to use it. In fact, just because you use a doe tag, doesn't mean you are a good sportsman, or hunting conversationist.” Bingo!!! Best statement I’ve seen about shooting doe’s! DNR does not care about the deer herd, QDM or the resource in general! They are driven by people that don’t even hunt and all about the money. Be a leader not a follower! Doe’s are actually my secret bait to taking down big bucks every season. Something to pay very special attention to if you hunt small properties!🏹🦌. Great video and points Jeff thanks!

Farmers renting my properties are going to start dropping my properties because of deer damage.

I’ve been following your videos for a few years now and have learned a lot. Some things I have been able to apply to my small parcel which has been great. I am in Virginia, so come rifle season and the hunt dogs come out, it seems as though a lot of the tips, tricks, and methods don’t really apply once the dogs start running consistently. Could you do a video addressing how dogs affect deer patterns?
