We're talking about the windows recall feature again.
This is the creepy little feature that Microsoft introduced in their AI powered laptops that take screenshots every couple of seconds forever.
Then has AI analyze those screenshots for important information and then catalogs it on your computer so you can use it to...
I don't know.
Search through things that you've done on your computer in the past,
Originally this feature was going to be enabled by default and was going to store these screenshots locally, I believe un-encrypted because now, Microsoft has "listened" and users will have to opt into this feature.
And the screenshots will be stored encrypted.
And users must authenticate through Windows' "Hello" to view or search the timeline of screenshots.
What's also worth mentioning is that attackers can enable this feature using a PowerShell script which will generate no alarms whatsoever in your environment. And if attackers already have the permissions required to enable this feature they probably have access to your pin. Because yes, you can use a pin number to unlock Windows' "Hello"
