Ovela, when I was growing up I kept hearing "Filipinos are lazy" and from where I stood that is exactly what I saw. Fast forward to 38 years later when I migrated to the US, I witnessed and knew Filipinos having 2 jobs or more ( I myself tried having 3 jobs at one time: 8-5, 6-12mn and weekends ). I realized it had a lot to do with where these Filipinos are and the ones back home had very few opportunities to find jobs. But all that has changed now. Filipino professionals and skilled workers are in demand all over the world. In my hometown, I know for a fact that 1 out of every 3 families have at least one family member who's working in another country.

I strongly feel that Filipinos have the tendency to seek external validation to have that sense of pride with ourselves. I think it stems from the fact that we've lost a huge chunk of our original heritage in the past when Conquistadors purged and burnt a lot of cultural writings and artifacts to effectively subjugate our people. It's only fortunate that there are still ones that were preserved, these were the traditions, livelihood skills, poems and dances. This is a good video, quite educational.

I beg to disagree sir ovela not Filipino men are lazy maybe some but most Filipinos are hardworking men it's just that our earnings are not enough because of low salary here ....
