5:47 the "wear her down" trope is ridiculously common. Guy instantly crushes on girl he just met, she's not interested, but he keeps persuing her anyways and eventually she gives in and dates him. And it is so, so often portrayed as positive and non problematic that oblivious and entitled people latch on to the idea and keep persuing someone even of they've given a CLEAR no, because they view themselves as the "main character" and the mc deserves the girl.

I can tell ya why some assholes "win, " regardless of the gender of the people involved. Couple primary reasons. One, the people they get into relationships with are led to believe that they're a far better person than they actually are and only find out when they're deep in it and now feel trapped for any number of reasons. Second, and likely more common, toxic people are sadly what these individuals are used to/think they deserve after some kind of trauma, often ingrained since childhood.

Or, alternatively, the other people in this equation are fine and the asshole is, in fact, the one doing the questioning/complaining. Nobody owes anyone a relationship or sex.

Nice guys always show their true colors almost immediately at any sign of resistance or rejection, with those “crappy” guys their colors aren’t shown until later if they really are the “bad guy”.
