PFTrack Tutorial - 3D Object Tracking Tutorial - In this tutorial I explain how to do 3d object tracking in PFTrack 2014. 3d object tracking is one of the most important and most useful effects to do in the VFX industry! Using 3d object tracking you can replace objects within your scene. You can also add to object - say you need to replace a label on a bottle, you can design the label in 3d and track that to the moving object / bottle. 3d object tracking can also be used to add scars / marks to an actor's face. You can use object tracking to add marks / paint / bullet holes to vehicles. There are basically endless uses for 3d object tracking.

You can also combine 3d camera tracking and 3d object tracking if you need to track your camera movement, as well as a moving object within that scene... Imagine the possibilities!

Nice tut! Is there a better way to track objects? It never locks on perfectly with this approach. Do you use user tracks?

Hey guys I am a newbie in pftrack, so here is my question. I have a footage and I geometry tracked it and everything alligns very well. By the way I have a moving camera scene. So when I export it for after effects, camera keyframes doesnt even move it is stationary, I think there must be a 3d null export option or smth like that. What am doin wrong?

Hey Ruan. Thanks for sharing. Can you make a tutorial about how to track camera, that moves in a straight line and looking straight at a ground from above. Its a panning move. For example, dron moving from side to side with a camera pointing at 90° to the ground.

Hi, I am wondering how would the geometry tracker track for a rotating object?
I have this footage where the person rotates a cube with his left hand, and the issue is that the geometry tracker is unable to track the cube properly once the person's hand rotate the cube to its underside. It will cause the cube to translate wildy, and barely rotate. Do you have any suggestion on how to solve this problem? Thanks for the help and for this awesome tutorial!

Hi, I am a research student working on droplets. Is it possible to track the centroid in 3D of a small oil droplet if I have videos from 2 cameras placed perpendicular to each other using Pf track or any other animation software?

can you tell me difference between object solver node and geometry track node? thank you again for your kindness. I can see that Geom. track puts a obj on moving points which seems quite easy, do you use object solver? any pros and cons to them both? Is object solver more accurate with many good areas to track? providing a second track group is created?

thank you. But how about exporting the geometry tracking data to AE? I know how to export camera tracking data to AE using .ma ; There are bunch of basic tutorials explaining that but none explain how to export "geometry data" to AE.  I want to specifically attach a text to a tracked object and moves and rotates with it.
