Baron 1898 Complete Experience - Efteling

Enjoy our complete HD experience video of Baron 1898 at Efteling. Take a walk through the queue line before seeing both of the rides pre shows and stepping onto the front row of the ride. Riders are seated on a train of 18 people. Then, the search for gold begins with a treacherous 37.5-metre free fall down into the mineshaft. Subsequently, visitors roar around an Immelmann loop at 90 kilometres per hour, followed by a Zero-G roll during which visitors momentarily experience weightlessness and along with a Helix.

This ride would never be as cool as it is without the theming. It just completes the whole experience.

Personally. I think these rides that have the station closed off until the moment of boarding is genius. Imagine if The Smiler had something like this. A horrific pre show ‘preparing you for marmalisation then the doors suddenly swing open revealing the train underneath the blinding surgical lights like an operating theatre.... that would be amazing :0

I've been living in Amsterdam for a year and have finally gotten to experience this. I went on it yesterday with friends, and I was regretting it as I sat down. Then I had a near heart attack when it held us over the edge, I swear there are no visible tracks when it holds you at that angle. Then five seconds later it dropped, I screamed like I have never have before as it plunged into the darkness below. Long story short, I loved it and I can't wait to do it again :D

great video! the kids talking through the preshow were pretty annoying, but i guess they were just excited, i rode this coaster and it was amazing! the singing of the White Ladys is much more beautiful in person.

This park has some of the most impressive theming I've seen. The ride bit could be better, but they do strive for a quality atmosphere.

I just realised the storytelling aspect of that final moment before you start the ascend up the hill: the White Ladies (ghosts) open the boiler room lid and disappear inside, singing that they will sabotage the ride. Brilliant! I've been on this ride and didn't even realise.

That's also a showcase of Efteling's dedication to storytelling and theming: the pre-show basically holds up the line. They could increase capacity by removing it, but that would cheapen the ride.

I rode Baron yesterday for the first time. Fantastic theme and awesome ride. The first drop was unexpected intense and the zero-g-roll was amazing. Awesome ride but the waiting time of 100min is long. :-)
