Hey everybody! When I first started out I heard a lot about how much you need the "Holy Trinity" of lenses. But in the last few years I have formed a slightly different opinion on the 3 must have lenses for any serious photographer.

Check out my Holy Trinity of lenses on Amazon:

I agree! I find the 24-70 unnecessary. I don’t think I’ve ever filmed at 40mm-49mm or 60mm-69mm. I got the kit lens 28-70 and I either film 28mm, or switch to my 55mm 1.8 or if I need telephoto then I got my 70-200 2.8. Planning on getting the 16-35 2.8.

Rob - When I bought my A7R4 almost a year ago I bought the 24mm 1.4 GM and the 135mm 1.8 GM. I then went berserk and added the Tamron 28-75 2.8, Sony 85 1.8 and Sony Zeiss 55 1.8. Shortly after I obtained the Tamron 17-28 2.8 and a bargain hardly-used 100-400 4.5-5.6. That's it. Because of lockdown we've missed out on the terrific Spring weather photography but the most use I've had from the lenses is the Tamron 28-75 and the terrific 135 GM which I can really recommend for impressive portraits with bokeh to die for. I also expect to use the wide angle GM extensively given the quality of photos so far. Just subscribed to your channel for the no-fluff content. Many thanks.

Good vid, mate. I am researching a lot to get the minimum amount of lens possible but still to be able to cover a good range and it is always a pain and super expensive in the full frame world... Would be awsm having available in the market an EF 16-300mm f/1.8 (fixed) lens for 500usd. hahah... Despite of the utopic joke thaat nobody did laugh, I think you built up an amazing set up. With two a7iii bodies + those 3 lens you would be able to cover a lot of everything with an impressive/professional quality. I am willing to build up the same set up soon. Let's see. Keep up with the good work. Cheers,

Hey Stewart, nice take on this concept. I think 24-70 is praised for that sweet spot for covering a wide range of shooting scenarios. It is a tradeoff for the convenience. There is a typo in 70mm-20mm lens link. Should be 200mm. Had a chance to obtain the A7 III instead of A7 R III based on your comparison. Would love to see more technical content like that review. Keep up the good work!

I think 24-70 is indispensable in any photographs bag but like he said you can get away with having a 50mm
