TIDAL MQA Android set-up (Renderer) - (xDSD/Huawei Mate Pro)

Показать описание
This computer audio tutorial highlights how to set-up TIDAL to enable MQA playback on Android devices.

You'll need a TIDAL premium account to experience MASTER (MQA) quality. For the full MASTER experience, we recommend using an MQA DAC. TIDAL's software, just like the desktop version, unfolds the first stage, whilst allowing the MQA ready DAC to perform the 2nd part of the MQA unfolding process.

We have used our xDSD for demonstration purposes - this video is purely to show how to correctly setup TIDAL for the 1st stage of the 'unfolding' MQA process. The iFi DAC will correctly unfold the 2nd stage.

This video is not specifically for the xDSD - it applies to all our current portable DACs.

Its FREE!

Please refer to our MQA upgrade guide or user manual for MQA colour as the MQA led on our original units dating back to 2013 will vary slightly.

Please note: With Samsung devices, its likely they 'up-sample' internally. MQA requires 'bit-perfect' stream, thus playing MQA on TIDAL will not work unless its done through an app such as USB Audio Player Pro - UAPP 'overrides' Samsungs internal 'up-sampling' and creates a 'bit-perfect' stream, just have TIDAL plug-in enabled and also purchase MQA plug-in to allow the Samsung device to playback MQA.

iFi is one of my channels favorite Audio products, not only does iFi create Great sound threw their technology the build quality is one of the best ! Thank you for the video ! One last thing my outboard dac i use on my main system that i hook my labtop up to i thought was an out standing dac until i used my ifi nano black label as a phone dac to my main system threw line out and i couldn't believe that the Black label sounded much more realistic ! iFi doing big things in small packages !

LG devices also need the UAPP for MQA. In LG-ANDROID, exclusive mode is not able to be operated by their 're-sampling'. The OS is involved in music playing process on TIDAL APP. Only UAPP with MQA plug-in has a assurance for exclusive play mode aside from Huawei

Just when you think that a new format is gonna be great, you find out there is gonna be a need for this and that. Hehehe ...

So if I stream Tidal MQA tracks from my iPhone, do I still need a MQA capable DAC such as your xDSD to enjoy the full benefits of the MQA? Thanks!

Not many good mqa DACs are available now.. I don't understand. Why people is not switching to qubuz which streams hirez with any modern DAC. MQA is also lossy format.

I have the same phone, the Mate 20 Pro and it is a no go with my xDSD. I would only get the green light. You are omitting something. I have to use a third app called USB Audio Pro which I don't like, so I have remain only on green light. Please give more detail on how to do it properly with just the Android OS and Tidal app... or which third app you have running on the background, so I can use directly Tidal interface. Otherwise, I assume this video is just a gimmick to raise sales as it shows it is possible but is not clear how.

UAPP can play MQA with any DAC. Even without external DAC, UAPP can open MQA file through phone default DAC. Of course, external DAC still produce better quality. It can play up to 96 khz. Then what is specific advantage with ifi MQA function while any regular DAC can open MQA anyway through UAPP? The same thing with original tidal mobile app. It can open MQA with any dac now even though it opens only minimum (48 khz).

Hi, my UAPP shows that a Tidal MQA track is 24/192 but at the same time "USB DAC: 96kHz". DAC is never above 96 even when the track is 192 or more. Am I doing smth wrong?
