Cleaning Burned Residue from an Staub Enameled Cast Iron Pot

What can you do if you end up with a large area of burned residue in your enameled cast iron dutch oven? Is the pot ruined? Fortunately, the answer is no! This burned area can be completely cleaned off using nothing more than baking soda and water. This Staub dutch oven was cleaned in about 30 minutes...and 20 minutes of that time was spent relaxing while the baking soda and water boiled inside the pot. Take a look and see for yourself.

I did not know those Staub 13.25-quart Dutch Ovens existed until I saw yours a few years ago. I had to have one. And I do! Then I had to purchase a commercial induction cooker as the oven is too big for my stove!

Love me some Staub. Scored some beautiful Staub stoneware at Marshal's not long ago.

We typically just use the deglaze method, get the sucker hot, add about a 1/2 cup of water, it will not hurt the cast, usually takes the burned food right off. I never seen this method, and will also try it.

I usually just "deglaze" my pans with soap and water right after I use them and they are still warm/hot! Works like a charm on enameled cast iron and most other pans too.

Is it really non-stick? I read online that there is no seasoning required but I doubt it.

How do you bring water to a boil with an enamel Dutch oven? Do you have to preheat it first or can you add water and set the burner to high?

That pan is enamelled?? It looks like raw cast iron. I'm confused.

Doing it wrong.
1 cup water + baking soda bring to a boil. Add Vinegar after as it will react to the baking soda

You KNOW Modemac, you COULD have avoided all that if you SIMPLY would have used a TEFLON coated DO to begin with…🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Some tip: Next time change the water and add clean water and baking soda, repeat the process as needed. Take a small kitche towel or soft cloth and with the spoon gently rub all over the bottom of the pot. It would come out completely flawless once you rinse it off.
