How to Clean Bottom of Pan with Baking Soda and Vinegar!

I let the bottom of my pans get way too dirty. In this video I show you how to clean the bottom of your pans or pots using baking soda and vinegar.

The bottoms of pots and pans can get quite dirty over time, especially on gas stoves. A lot of this is carbon and grease build up which can be cleaned using baking soda and vinegar. It is recommended that you clean your pans and pots regularly so that they don't get as dirty as mine did.

Baking soda is effective in cleaning because it causes dirt and grease to dissolve in water. Since a lot of the grime on the bottom of a pan comes from grease, baking soda is an excellent choice to use with cleaning.

There are many other options for cleaning the bottom of your pots and pans if you don't have baking soda or vinegar. You can use a spray-on oven cleaner to clean the bottoms of your pans. You can also use a product called barkeeper's friend. Both of these product will do a great job in cleaning the greasy bottom of your pans.

In this video I decided to show you how to do it with materials most people should have in their home, including baking soda, vinegar, and steel wool. One thing I should've mentioned in my video is that is can also help to use hot water when cleaning the pan.

Every time I encounter DIY cleaning hacks, the presenter always use the mixture of vinegar and baking soda. You can get a better result if using baking soda alone. Baking soda is Basic and vinegar is Acidic. Combining the two, they will neutralize each other. The reason you got some good results because you scrubbed it while the reaction was going on. You could have gotten a better result with baking soda/water paste alone, or baking soda/dishwashing liquid combination.

Fill the sink with the hottest possible water you can find, throw in a few dishwasher tablets, soak pan in it over night. Next morning scrub and clean. I did this with my oven racks too, burnt pieces were literally floating on the water surface next morning.

Most excellent tutorial!!! Straight to the point with no annoying distractions (music, wind, etc). Most videos are all through the forest with material not even related to the subject.

Well done 👏 😊

This does work and you are right, use the steel wool. Here is another tip. For the round sides, sprinkle baking soda on them, place paper towels on top and pour the vinegar on top and let it sit. Otherwise the vinegar runs off and it is ineffective. I would also suggest to do this every time you cook something. Especially if you have super expensive cookware. Don't wait for the grime to build up.

Use a paper towel between the baking soda and the vinegar. Keeps it from running off and can be done in the sink... less mess.

If you don’t wanna use steel wool on your pans, use hard sugar cubes!! Works like a charm every time!!

Thank you for including the footage of the whole process, I've seen a video of a similar method, but the author made it seem like you just leave it for 2 minutes and it looks like a freshly bought pan, it was very hard to believe

A little chemistry knowledge is useful. Try just baking soda or just vinegar. By combining the two you're just making salty water. That reaction you're getting is the base neutralizing the acid and it's not helping to clean anything even though it looks cool.

Awesome video, I use baking soda and vinegar for everything in my home! Literally everything lol. I prefer that over other products due to all the chemicals in others.
But love the honesty!

Baking soda, dawn, and vinegar combo to clean my bathtub, too! You make a paste then dab it all over your tub; leave for 1/2 hr (i leave it on for 1 hr usually) bring a dish washing sponge with that scrubbing power which you don't really need to scrub hard because it comes out like butter! I also use that combination paste to clean all my stainless faucets, ceramic tiles, and your bathroom sink as well as the glass door. My son-in-law thought out bathroom faucet was brand new, LMAO! I also use the same watered down version of it to soak my shower heads; it comes out shiny nice!

I had the same problem using my smallest stainless steel pot to deep fry finger egg rolls and it left a years worth of gunk within 2 weeks although I only used it twice to deep fry. So, I used a dab of Oxi Clean (1/4 cup) to fill a bigger frying pan that was also dirty and added water to the big fry pan and a little water to the small stainless steel pot to keep it down and I sat it in the center of the bigger fry pan and let it boil. After boiling for about a couple of minutes, I took out the small stainless steel pan and left the big fry pan to keep boiling; i also added more water to it so it will also clean the inside of the bigger fry pan as I worked to scrub the stainless steel pan; it came out pretty easy with using a brillo plastic scrubber. I'm very happy with the result! I always use Oxiclean to clean my stainless steel pans and they always stay looking very clean and shiny! I also use vinegar, dawn, and baking soda paste to clean all my stainless steel appliances, pots, bake pans and they look sparkling clean!

What does it mean to leave it a little bit? 20 minutes or couple of hours?

I have been organizing and cleaning every single corner of my house. The oven is the only thing left. I bought the spray to do it. I am not patient like you neither do I have such good gloves.
Thank you!

You should use easy off non toxic, spray it on, then wrap it in cling wrap to prevent it from drying. Leave it overnight and you will use less elbow grease and get much better results. You got results but used way too much product. As you say don’t wait for grease to build up, another tip is clean you pan base and stove top before you start cooking, avoid spills.

If you rub dish soap on the pan before cooking cleanup is easy. If the pan already has that brown gunk on it rub dish soap on the pan, heat at the lowest setting, let cool and then wash.
