Welcome to 'Machine Learning for Engineering & Science Applications' course !

This lecture explores how computers represent numbers and the potential issues that can arise due to limitations in numerical precision. It covers concepts such as range, precision, overflow, and underflow, explaining their impact on computations and potential consequences in real-world applications. Additionally, it introduces the condition number, a measure of the sensitivity of a function to changes in its input.
NPTEL Courses permit certifications that can be used for Course Credits in Indian Universities as per the UGC and AICTE notifications.

19:50 why can it represent 1e-16 after adding to 0 ? If it is below our mantissa precision, shouldn't it be always impossible to print it ?
