The raw emotion of Ferrari is something only someone who has driven or even been in one can understand. It’s hard to explain in words cause it’s a mix of emotions.

Enjoyed that Ben. I remember the first time I drove mine and it’s one of a few cars that just makes you laugh out loud, even years later. It never gets old and if anything, the reaction gets stronger with time because cars are so watered down now, even supercars.

What I love about your content is that you lure me in to liking cars that if truth be told I really don't want to like, out of fear they will supersede my love for other Ferrari models. I have always been absolutely crazy about the 360 - and Seen Through Glass just reinforces my obsession with the CS as the be-all and end-all of road-going Italian race cars. But your video makes my head turn not just to the Scuderia but the standard F430 too! I'm so besotted with 360s, with a manual (it has to be!), and all their exoticism, but not matter how hard I try and 'not look', this 430 video is way too seductive. This feels like cheating. Stop it. Stop it. Fidelity! But looking is ok ; ), right?

Your enthusiasm for that amazing car was a real pleasure to see, was lucky enough to just sit in that very scud at fiat & friends gaydon recently & yes what a special car ! Hope one day you get to own your very own prancing horse Ben, can just see your beautiful kids queuing up for a go.😁

Love my scud…the gearbox on the scud is so much more emotional/engaging than the double clutch gearboxes found in modern cars.

Mate, so chuffed for you - must have been an amazing experience driving this!! I drove an F430 Spider around the track in Anglesey and I enjoyed every second of it - that sound!! Loved the F1 box too. Also liked the semi-automatic in the V8 Vantage and the early Gallardos so yeah I’m with you on this one. No need to keep hating on the robotised boxes!!

I've always loved the F430 and the "Scud Missile", for me they are perhaps the ultimate of the mid-engine V8 family as both, but especially the Scud are mind-bendingly fast, but not so fast they can't be fun, the 458, 488 and F8 seem like cars that always have to been driven with a serious face.
I've also always loved the looks of the F430, it's a subtle but good looking car and I think is aging very well.

Absolutly agree with you!!! Speed, brutal, f1 sensation, touched pallets, incredible!!! I test 430 scuderia and 458 special the same day… no questions for me… best is 430 scuderia!!! What a car .. what emotions, what sensations!!! It’s a race car on the road!!! the best ferrari ever 🚀

Great video, Ben. The scud is an amazing machine and the updated gearbox is really something. I have grown to really love the F1 gearboxes (I always believed sports cars had to be manual) and would buy another in an instant. And I agree on your comments re the GranSport - amazing car for the money!

I have always enjoyed the mechanical feel of automated manuals, they take a bit more effort than driving a full auto. I also enjoy the aggressiveness of the shifts compared to the super smooth shifts of something like a ZF8

When your potentiometers and everything is programmed correctly and the tolerances are set properly, these gearboxes are nothing short of fucking sensational, there is something beautiful about aggressive shifting the downshifting is legit on fire. Sadly my 2008 Superleggera got destroyed by a semi trailer on Sunday night, and it was only one of five in my country. So I’m currently looking for something else unfortunately the price of a 430 scud in Australia right now is about 799, 000😮. Great review mate.

The F1 shift in the F355 and 360 Modena was absolutely horrible… but later versions circa 2010 are a joy…😜

The F430 in my opinion suffers from what i call "Continental Syndrome": When i car it first launched its looks are poorely recieved, loathed even, but over time it ages into near perfection: The Bentley Continental, F430 and another i would say is the E60/63 BMW M5 and M6, they are just astonishing nowadays, little of topic, but my god i love this car xD

Obviously they are not trying to do quite the same thing, but how close does the Maserati get to the Scud experience wise? 6-8/10? At a tenth the price, that's an amazing deal, even if it costs a lot to run.

It's really interesting with these automated manuals, everyone nowadays wants the pure, old school manual experience, which I completely understand, but back in the day it was definitely the opposite.

Not only did these auto cars sell way better then the manuals, but I also read some in-period Car and Driver articles where they praised the F1 gearbox, actually calling it a considerable improvement on the hallowed gated manual. And that was the earlier versions in the F355 and 360, not this much later one.

I think I'd still take the stick all things being equal, but at the steep discount you get when buying an auto, they are a mightily tempting option.

How about a Mazda RX-8 for your next car? The screamy rotary engine, darty handling should be just right!

If ever someone complained about robotised manual gearbox being rubbish, I always brought Scuderia and 599 GTO as a counterpoint. I can speak from my own experience having tasted it on a Scuderia Spider 16M. It was barmy. The shift even in SPORT is just rude it's getting pretty addictive.

What's is it like maintaining a F1 box though? (For 3 years or more)
