Digital Nomads have moved to Portugal and Lisbon to find a better life but what is the reality of living in Portugal? I went from tourist to local to discover the Pros and Cons of living here, the cost of living, and if you should move here. Let's find out if Portugal is your next home or if we're off to the next nomad hotspot.

I know creators LOVE to fish for comments on their videos but I genuinely would LOVE to hear what you think of this new format and this series. My team and I poured our heart into this video and it really pushed our limits. I want to know if you want to see this series brought elsewhere :)

Thank you for being here <3

Usually don’t comment on videos like these, but I LOVED this longer, chilled back style. More please! ❤

Fantastic video! My partner and I are both from the UK but we have been living in Lisbon for the last few years after travelling for the best part of 6 years as digital nomads. I must say however that if we didn't have our own apartment here in the city, which we purchased around 3 years ago, we would find it difficult to afford the same lifestyle that we had whilst living and travelling throughout Asia. The cost of living has skyrocketed and the average Portuguese person who earns around 1200 euros a month wouldn't be able to afford to live in this city, which is a shame. We are both from the UK and work in e-commerce and graphic design, and even for us, it is an expensive city to live in. We feel a great sense of gratitude for the lives that we lead.

A lot of the places that you have highlighted in the video would be out of bounds to many though for it to be sustainable, unless of course you earn good money or frequent them once in a while as a treat. The Time Out Market is insanely expensive for what it is and the co-working spaces are unaffordable to many. I am not sure whether it is just that we earn less than the average digital nomad, or whether it is just that digital nomads nowadays are earning a lot more, whether that be coming from corporate positions, or from countries where their purchase power is a lot greater.

Digital nomads (and lack of timely action from the government, of course) are one of the reasons why housing crisis exists and prices got unbearable for Portuguese people to live. Young Portuguese workers (with higher education) are now forced to share housing or even return to their parents homes due to the rise of prices in the bigger cities. It has become a really dire situation for some. Portugal is a great place to enjoy if you're a millionaire, not if you're a middle/lower class citizen

I'm portuguese, and have to say, this videos represents very well the lifestyle here. Except for a local who makes on average 1000€ a month 😅
But for someone making around 3-4k a month (after tax), yes, you can enjoy a very reasonable life!

Loved the video man! Great mix of cinematic, vlogging, camera angles, story telling, etc. I like the longer videos too that make it feel like a mini-movie. Would deff watch more digital nomad deep dives on other cities. Brings back great mems from the trip too :)

This is hands down one of the most engaging videos I've watched from your channel. The editing and the supporting visuals were spectacularly vibrant without being distracting. The video coincided with my piqued curiosity regarding nomad life in Portugal and already helped immensely with the update regarding tax. I would have liked a little more information on actual longer term living costs (like monthly rental prices) and a summary of potential monthly living expenses at different levels of lifestyle, as the costs highlighted were more from a tourist perspective like you mentioned. You did however give sufficient hints with the comparisons to grocery prices in Portugal and elsewhere. All in all an awesome video, and looking forward to the next deep dive like this one. 👏🏾👏🏾

The cost of living seems to be increasing every year, making it harder to keep up.

I LOVE the way you have put this together - really on another level. It's clear that you have spent a great deal of time thinking this through, not just slapping it together. Next level professional (plus entertaining and informative). Well done.

I’m from Lisbon, born and raised, and have lived in the US for over two decades. While I appreciate your efforts, I didn’t appreciate the “samba” music in the background. That literally has nothing to do with Portuguese culture. Would you have “samba” in the background for a video on New York City? My point is that there’s lots of Portuguese music that you could use instead. And remember that “the locals” are not Brazilian.

Income tax has a progressive rate that is ranging from 13% to 48%, so you only pay the max tax on anything you make above ~€80k.
€80k might seem low for some, especially Americans; but the average salary here is below €20k. The difference is that you can live comfortably on that salary here in Europe. A household income (not single person) of €80k would put you into the top 15-20%.

This longer format, half-informative, half storytelling is Netflix worthy. Cinematic and narration is always on point. I would binge a whole series. Although 30mins might just be that little bit more digestible. Love the fun title cards too 👏🏽 Thanks for all the entertainment over the years 🙏🏽

I love Portugal! The food, the people, the architecture, the vibes! Oh, and my local friend (American expat) took me to that same beach (at 7:20). I have been there twice and considered moving there.. still an option! And yes, I like this new format!

The heart and soul you put into this video showed. Loved the format and Portugal. A very definite yes to this series brought elsewhere.

Really enjoyed the video especially the extended length of it. I treated like I was watching a programme on Netflix rather than some quick YouTube action. Really well shot 👏

I’m off to Comporta soon with my family, 1.5 hours from Lisbon. Was hoping you had gone there but still plenty in this to whet my appetite for Portugal
