CHEAP Catalytic Converter Fix - P0420 P0430

This video will show you how to fix a seemingly fine catalytic converters (FOR OFF-ROAD ENVIRONMENTS ONLY) so that your check engine light turns off. The benefit to this is allowing the check engine light to come in and notify you of problems instead of thinking your engine is fine. If you have a light on a performance OFFROAD ONLY vehicle for this, then you won’t know when your engine throws other codes.

The straight ones that are really just sparkplug defilers that you drill out to fit your O2 sensor do work and very well I may add.

I love it, you just saved my day, my wife wants drive a vehicle with the check engine light on and it just threw it on due to catalytic converter and it still runs great with plenty of power! Will be ordering a 90° spacer tomorrow

Spark plug anti fouler and a 1/2” drill bit work as well. They’re at all major auto parts stores on the shelf.

I just used 2 spark plug anti-fouling extenders and it worked great

You can correct for that and also a tired O2 sensor with a potentiometer to vary the signal voltage. Mechanics have and exhaust gas analyzer to make sure you got it right. Also, if your cat is tired, you can remove the spark lead (safely) to one cyclinder and the unburned fuel will make the cat go red or even yellow hot. Red is enough - about 5-10 minutes. But have a fire extinguisher handly. It cleans up the cat without any expensive chemicals. On a gasoline engine.

I used the straight double stack parts store defouler method on my 98 chevy. Worked great. Drill one out for the o2 then stack it on the unmodified one with the small orfice on the end, then screw the assembly in the exhaust

The front sensor is for monitoring air /fuel ratio and controls fuel management

My man thx for the info. Mechanic wants $1630 for catalytic converter and $250 for labor. Jeep is 2012 unlimited sport wrangler with 100, 354 miles.

Thats a better extender for sure. According to the theory the longer the extender the better. Also, If you drill a small hole at the end of the extender the venturi effect will suck in cool air and dilute the exhaust further.

I'm here, for the catalytic converter info, and didn't realize you did the 4X4 upgrades etc. I do have a Ford F150 4X4, but it sees little use in the back country these days. It's still all OEM, and I've always owned an ATV for back country jaunts, to myself living here in the Pacific Northwest of Canada, but have travelled to Utah to the many off-road locations, and have seen some awesome scenery in doing so obviously.
