Well, that is disgusting, that guy fall for less than a minute and try win, certainly helped the team in that victory and still get penalized as F*, i thin in this case he really could only dont gain the LP, but instead, he loses 29 and probably another 3 lp for the next 3 games.

the fact that they stuck with it and helped win the game, getting the same loss as if you didn't play is like telling players "if you dc, go do something else until that one is done" which is an awful way to feed into the culture.

Hopefully with the new anti-grief system they can fix this issue. However it's still not that fucking hard. Riot knows when you disconnect and they damn well know if you pressed "Leave" or if you just lost internet connection

I'm scared to even touch ranked with how broken their client is. Sometimes the game just won't load for me and when I reopen the client/game, it gaslights me into thinking the game never existed. One time I had to reopen League 4 times to finally show me the "reconnect" button like what the hell...

League is also the only game that randomly spikes my ping from a comfortable 60-80 to up to 600ms super randomly mid match. I do not have unexplainable ping issues on every other online game.

If the system detects you leaving like this and you come back quickly and still win at the very least you should just get a +0 you shouldn't lose even MORE, this is essentially a -50 because you didn't get the lp you should've gotten from winning

So if your internet died you might as well just go and do somethig else huh, no point in trying to reconnect - it will count as a loss anyway, doesnt matter that he came back and played the game. That is a perfectly reasonable incentive to try and play, good job riot.

Big YES ! Honnestly every time my team or I won in 4V5 it always meant the afk player helped in early, had some dc problem, and helped in late game. I NEVER had the situation that Riot advocate to explain their choice where someone ragequit, comes back and see team is winning so decides to play. Of course this is just my personal experience but I think the current rule makes no sens. You literally have no reason to comeback help your team if you were afk 10 min since you ll get penalty and lp loss.

I agree, and ive thought about this alot. To impliment a system that enables player votes to impact progression, each player would need to have their own metric for how much weight their vote has. Players who have proven themselves to report people just because they themselves are frustrated would lose validity in their votes, whereas those who vote infrequently and accurately would hold more value in their votes. This is the only way to stop the toxicity, that is inherent in league, from destroying any accuracy or helpfulness of a player based ranking assistance.

Actually before vanguard and automated afk detection you would get a larger time window to reconnect and get lp than now

This happens surprisingly often. I think it's because all the team can share the same feeling of being at a disadvantage and having to clutch it or loose it. And the other team may take the advantage for granted and be overconfident
