"Can anything good come out of Nazareth?" "Cast the first stone!" "No greater love!" Where have I heard THAT before? Glad you asked, because all three are found in the Bible—in fact, they’re all from the Gospel of John—including the popular idiom, “doubting Thomas” from John 20:24–29.

The Bible has been the source for hundreds of idioms and phrases in several languages—“born again,” “signs and wonders,” “behold the man,” “the truth will set you free,” “it’s more blessed to give than to receive,” and so many others.

At Museum of the Bible the entire second floor of the museum addresses the Impact of the Bible—it’s enormous influence on nearly every aspect of life, including the idioms and phrases we take for granted in everyday speech.
