ORCHID ROOTS or FLOWER SPIKE? | How to identify them!

Orchid roots have rounded green tips (color may vary depends on the color of the flower). They say dark flower have a darker root tips compared with light colored ones. As roots grow, they are covered with a protective substance that gives them a whitish or silvery appearance. The velumen is the sponge structure that covers the actual roots. Flower spikes are usually greener than roots and have a flatter, mitten-shaped rounded tip. While growing, spikes remain green along their full length and holds the buds and it becomes the flowers after few weeks.
