Rescues take more time and effort but they’re so worth it ♥️

What you have said in this video is absolutely correct, a rescue dog needs love, praise and encouragement, if they are not partially or fully trained then take time and train them, but praise and encourage them and don't mind if they make mistakes. Always have treats for them and give them space when they need it. It comes down to connecting with the dog, or any animal, and feeling what they need.

Another tip is to keep your dog in his crate and quiet for the first few days or weeks when you bring your shelter dog home, taking them out for scheduled feeding and short potty breaks and play time. This gives them time to acclimate to the sights, smells and sounds of their new home, and a safe space to hide while they adjust. Keep walks short so they don't get confused around their new neighborhood until they realize where their new home is located. Some dogs take up to a year to adjust so be patient.

I’d take this w/a grain of salt. We’ve rescued many pets off the streets in horrible conditions n many pets from the IN-Humane Society cats and dogs even FREE pets on Craiglist!!

Every animal is different. Best thing is to take some alone time with them to get to know them in the first couple of days to a week or so. It’s traumatic what they’ve gone through. I try to put my self im their place. Like the death of their owner or a family moving. That must be so traumatic. Maybe they were kept in a cage. Maybe chained to a leaky dog house or no house n chained to a pole. Most times I’d sit somewhere in the rescue area where you’re safe...close your eyes the noise is deafening!!Now imagine being alone in a metal gate separated fr other animals (yet you can hear the loud noises barking, howling, crying...
Now you’re in a very small enclosure where you poop, pee n eat in the same place. Not having a human nearby to love, touch, care for your needs.

This new baby will need ALL your love, time n training as much as possible.

i have had dog pound and humane society dogs all my life once you understand the glitches and are patient the dog will become the perfect and most wonderful dog that you will ever have they need love understanding of course there are dogs that can never be reclaimed but in most cases where as the dog has been through multiple homes different types of people this can cause an aggressive dog

I got a 6yr old Aussie beagle mix female from the shelter it’s a handful I have a 3yr old beagle that I have raised from a pup they get along pretty good Holly the shepherd is an escaped artist and suffers from separation anxiety so bad she tore the crate up. I seen that she saw my bed and room were some place she felt safe so instead of a crate I keep her in the bedroom she doesn’t tear anything up or uses the bathroom little victories

We rescued a dog 8 minutes before closing time the next day she was to be euthanized. She was a picked up stray have no history on her. The 1st morning we woke up she wet on the floor. After that no problems. Two weeks ago we had her spayed. She came home all drugged up in pain had an accident. No problems after that.
This is week 6, the Last 3 mornings we have awakened to dog poop. She didn’t bark or make any noise. This happened between midnight and 5 am.
We’ve eliminated the treats. Last night we used pads and she did use them.

Very few humans pay a pro dog handler and learn how to really handle a dog. They lie and bluff instead, especially men. I am an exception and hired the best dog trainers in my state capital and learned all they had to teach me and went to every class. Very few dog owners ever take all of 1 class in every lesson, and fewer still even know what 'CGC' stands for. ..

None of this applies to my rescue dog that I’ve had over 10 years- he has issues I just can’t seem to get him to behave on leash, runs aways from the house, won’t mind me, is neutered but if neighborhood female in heat he runs away stays gone for hours has me panicking. He doesn’t help me he gives me anxiety. With my PTSD I love him but I feel like he’s not the dog for me. We take walks 2x’s a day. I’m at my wits end.

How many of you will put up that you saved a black person in need instead of a dog in need?
