What Does the HEX CORE Actually Do? (THEORY) #Arcane #shorts

#LeagueOfLegends #Netflix #Viktor

The Hex Core is Arcane’s most mysterious technology. All of Arcane’s technology is somewhat mysterious, and while we can’t speculate productively on HOW they work, by knowing what each individual component of the Hex Core does, it’s overall function makes a lot more sense. Hextech is technology of power and efficiency. Shimmer is chaotic growth. By adding organic matter, a lifeforce for the hextech to empower, we get both the evolutionary effect of life made efficient and the terrifying rapid deterioration of life we see consuming Sky.

I feel so bad for viktor specially the scene when he realizes sky is dead I wanna hug him sdfghj

My guess is that Hex Core is like a Faustian device as when we see Victor no longer needing his crutches and sprinting long distances without tiring but at the cost of becoming more obsessed with it and when he 'disobeyed' the Hex Core essentially took back its 'gift'

The Hexcore is a Turing Machine, a generalised version of Hextech.
Instead of hard coding (carving) runes into a device and testing if it works, you can align the runes on a hex core and see if it casts the spell.

With a Turing Machine. Instead of writing '4 + 4 =' and pressing 'go'. you can code 'A FUNCTION B stored in C' and rotate different variables into the respective slots.
This explains why Victor says "I've tried every combination of runes", he has literally brute forced all the possible combinations of the 4 characters. The Hexcore is the Acrane universes first general computer.

My theory for the hexcore goes like this:
So, we know the original idea for the hexcore was that it was supposed to be hextech that learns and how it's "backwards" from the way current hextech was being used.

What I understood this to mean was that, currently, they mix and match runes at random until it produces some kind of effect (e.g. teleportation) and then they see if they are able to make use of that effect.

With the hexcore, you would be able to tell it what effect you want (e.g. "hexcore, cast healing magic) and then the hexcore will know exactly what's needed and change the runes on itself to then cast that effect.

The way it currently works, however, is that it learnt from Viktor's need to heal himself and began enhancing life. However, it seems to be going too far and pushing the subject beyond their limits, kinda like overclocking a CPU without a break, leading it to deteriorate.

When Viktor took the shimmer, it managed to give Viktor the boost he needed to survive but, when he tried the second time without shimmer, it would've been too much. If Skye wasn't there, he would have been consumed himself but with Skye, the hexcore seemed to recognise her as extra materia tol use up instead of killing Viktor. So, while it managed to keep Viktor alive, it still had to draw on that extra energy somewhere.

That's at least the idea I got from the hexcore, but it really could go any way and I really like the idea of you presented

It was only on my second watch I realised that Viktor had run out of shimmer when he made his second attempt to use the hexcore on himself, and rather than going to get more he went for it anyway in desperation and would have died if Sky had not intervened and paid the price in his place. It shows how far gone he was at this point because unless I'm missing something this was completely irrational - it was a risk he didn't need to take. Yes getting more shimmer was difficult at that point due to the blockade, but if he'd calmed down and thought about it, not impossible

i love the fact that Piltover is struggling to learn how to use magic and there are some places in the same universe where everyone uses magic like they breath

Why is Viktor so obsessed with the Hex core? Yes it could save his life but he doesn't know that at the start.
It's precisely because it learns, adapts, and evolves by itself (in theory). If he manages to make it work, he leaves behind something way more lasting than himself. He is faced with his mortality and irrelevancy in the grand scheme of things, but if he leaves behind this thing that evolves on its own, he can post-humously achieve his dream of recognition, discovery, AND improving lives. He hedges all his bets on it because he has to in order to have closure and die with some semblance of peace.

This part of his character really resonated with me. As a flawed human with a big huge ego, I want so badly to leave something behind that would make me remembered for centuries. And no better thing than something that can live on indefinitely without your input. It's perfect.

Holy shit I hadn't even thought about this until I saw people's comments suggesting it, but I was wondering how they were going to get Blitzcrank into the show and what if the Hexcore IS Blitzcrank (or turns into him when it "evolves" further)? That would actually make so much sense, especially because Blitzcrank seems to share Viktor's ideals of using technology to protect/save humanity, and Viktor is such a fan of the term "crank it" so maybe Blitzcrank even absorbed some tiny fragments of Viktor's memories/habits!
Either that, or the hexcore is going to turn Viktor into League of Legends Viktor, with the laser arm and cyborg face and all. Why not both? Maybe it imbues Viktor with power while absorbing his life force and incorporating it into itself! I'm excited you guys holy shit let's get our wholesome gentle giant robo-golem on the SHOW

Its brilliant that Viktor was the one who did this, because its combining the technology of both Zaun and Piltover

I believe the hexcore ( at least in arcane) is adapting and powering based on whatever is put into it. It becomes a live test subject for Viktor to work with. I believe the plants would have grown normally except his blood had already changed the hexcore to function like him, dying. He put shimmer into himself and the hexcore adapted as he did. As for what happened to Skye, time will tell.

it's going to be interesting to see what they will do with the Hex Core next season, and if I remember correctly didn't they say that the Hex Core was supposed to be a living or have the ability to learn kind of technology?

Cant wait to see Viktor slowly turn into how he is in LoL. They did a good job with Jinx, Ekko, and the others, and their designs fit the world better. So I cant wait to see how they deisgn viktor compared to his LoL model

When i watched arcane for the first time my attention fell onto the core showing some kind of fear (i think the scene was when Victor tried to destoy it), so maybe the thing is alive and learning (as said in the show).

The whole scene of that drop of blood entering the hexcore looks a lot like a metaphor for fertilization to me, especially considering the scene is combined with Mel and Jayce going at it. I bet Mel's gonna be pregnant

theres this theory that might play onto season 2:

Victors hexcore isnt working because its missing a rune.

currently hextech is using 4 of the 5 elemental runes, the same kind used in-game: Domination, Precision, Sorcery, Resolve, and the final missing one, Inspiration.

Skye, Victors assistant, was alluded to have discovered the Inspiration Rune, especially because of the color of her clothes and journal and how she said she was INSPIRED by Victor.

so maybe next season, he uses her research to modify the hexcore to fit 1 more rune and voila, the Glorious Evolution we know and love

Hextech/Simmer - metaphors for Piltover & Zaun. Hextech is about applying layers of control. Shimmer is about releasing inherent strength but in an unfocused and destructive way. (Superego vs Id?)

I think Netflix’s _Dark_ said “everything has a cost”.

Maybe hex core is like an AI, it takes the energy of hextech and gradually adapts it into better things with little or no input from the user. Since there are numerous rotating runes on it, I thought it looks like Viktor uses it like a computer, turning the runes to create different effects, but eventually the runes begin moving themselves, essentially turning itself into a thinking organism that can make its own magic, i.e. creating life once life is put in and so on

My dear friend schnee, analyze the songs. i have seen with my own eyes that every minute, every second means something in arcane, Music always has a secret meaning :)

I just realised hextech is power and people are seeking power no matter if it costs lifes (blood), time and energy and that’s a good metaphor my god. Arcane was deep and still is. I love deeper meaning in everything ❤😮
