Thanks so much for your video! Dealing with the exact same thing on the 235 in my 1953 Bel Air. Great to see the full works in good detail.

Hi, did you ever post part 2 to this video? I can't find it, was excited to see the reassembly...

Great video, learned something new with the stuck valve and the mallet. My 99 has the same issue.

Thanks so much

Chuck the valve in your battery drill and turn it while moving up and down.. Check for side to side movement which signifies a worn out guide Condition (Which Requires Head Removal).. The Marvel mystery oil is good stuff which can be added to the Engine Oil as a Cleaning Additive.. Thanks

Great vid, I believe I have the same issue on my '62. You said you may want to use MMO on all the springs, but wouldn't the o-ring stop oil from going down the valve?

Hello, enjoyed the video. I had to search through a long list of videos before finding yours; & yours is the one most appropriate for what I was searching for. I am trying to reassemble a 1940 Chevy, 216 cu.in engine & it seemed that I had a stuck valve. I tried applying PB Blaster, Marvel Mystery oil, ATF/Acetone mixture, bumping the rocker arm on top of the valve -- nothing was working. I pulled the push rod cover & discovered that the lifter was stuck in an upward position although the valve didn't seem to be pushed down/open. I tried same type methods to get it unstuck as I did with the valve but with no luck. I'll have to remove the rocker arm shaft so I can get more aggressive with it. Before I do that ... do you have any suggestions for getting the lifter free?
One more thing if I may: I also discovered that where the copper tube, for the rocker's oil supply, attaches at the lower part of the block, the coolant is leaking out. Do you have any suggestions for fixing that?
Sorry to unload so much on you after just finding your channel but I think you are someone I could trust for a worthy response. There are just too many goobers out there. And, I'd really like to get this car back on the road & help keep these oldies but goodies still in operation.
I watched the initial video when you introduced the truck & this one where you finally got the correct rocker arm to reinstall everything. Is there a video in between or one afterwards showing the reinstall? I searched couldn't find them.
Last thing ... you mentioned of a place where you got the rocker arm but didn't give the company name. Could you please provide that, it might be a good resource.
Anyhow, I thank you for your time & consideration. If you don't have the time or desire to respond ... I understand. I'll not be offended. I'll just watch & learn from your various videos.

Why not use carb cleaner to dissolve gunk in and around the valve stem and guide? Then put the Magic Oil into the valve guide!!!

That is a very nice truck, I was going to as you a quick tech tip, I built a stroker 347 and I put the comp cams xr294hr-10 in it and I was going to ask you if it would benefit from retarding the cam timing 4° like you did in your son's 331?
