Wrong the kit does not cost $4....it costs four hours, three trips to Home Depot and FINALLY $4 once I figured out what to do! Should have watched your video first. Never would have believed it was a 10 minute repair!

Dude. You are a lifesaver. This was easy and completely stopped the leak without having to replace the valve.

Great info. Exactly what I needed. Picked up a kit at big orange store and followed your steps, no leaks!

Great video. Just watched another video and he put the plastic washer on after the black rubber one. Both ways seem to work. I guess I’ll read the directions.

Thanks for the video. My toilet valve was running but then I could not shut off the water to the toilet because the shut off valve was now bad. I thought I would have to replace the whole valve which was a soldered valve but replacing the valve stem was A LOT easier in an especially tight space.
The old Brass Craft brass valve stem looks in good condition, just bad 30+ year gaskets I think. I'm going to size the gaskets and clean the valve stem up and re-use it. The new plastic stuff doesn't give me a lot of confidence. All told, under 40 minutes to replace the valve stem, toilet valve and clean up. Appreciate the clear instructions!

Appreciate the video. For me it was cheaper to replace the angle stop from my local plumbing store for $3.75 and have a better 1/4 turn valve than those horrible Brasscraft ones. Love the bucket. You should be an affiliate seller and put a link to buy it in your description. Thx

I just did a total bathroom redo and found my hot water stem wouldn’t completely shut off. I worked around it, relying on the new faucet tap to shut off the flow but now I think I can go back and fix the problem thanks to your video! Great info and perfectly explained and executed.

Don't use plastic. Now the handle is broken and we cannot stop water leaking in our apartment 😞 Not shut off valve inside and outside is only for all building (about 12 apartments)

Thanks so much. This really saved my tail. I thought I was going to have to replace the whole valve. So pro tip The brass craft stem replacement kits also fit Lasco.

On the full turn Valves, I open them all the way and then close it a half turn. That often prevents them from freezing open. I have some valves that are almost 50 years old and they still operate. The new ball valves are the way to go though when replacement is needed.

For everyone yelling, "just replace the entire valve w/ a new 1/4 corner turn valve!" Easier said than done. It appears as though he has CPVC pipes, and therefore the water shut off valve is a CPVC valve, which is solvent welded onto the CPVC pipe – it is not a compression valve. In order to replace the valve w/ a new one, he would have to very carefully hacksaw through the pipe directly behind the valve, so as to not crumble or crack the brittle CPVC pipe. And now he's lost inches of pipe. So he would then have to extend the CPVC pipe in order to place the new valve on. It's a pain in the ass!
And as for the copper faucet water lines, those run directly into the faucet – there's no replacing them w/ braided flex lines. He would have to replace the entire faucet.

Thank you for this video as always. I have never used a detector for possible water leaks, how does it react if there is a leak? Perhaps another video post if you haven't already.

You saved my butt. Home Depot had the exact part. I replaced both valves in the mudroom tub, and it's all good. Thanks so much for the video.
