Canadian National No. 89 is a historic steam locomotive built in 1910 by the Canadian Locomotive Company in Kingston, Ontario. Classified as a 2-6-0 Mogul-type engine, it was originally built for the Grand Trunk Railway and was absorbed into Canadian National Railways (CNR) during a merger. No. 89 spent much of its early life hauling freight and passenger trains across Canada, particularly in the eastern provinces. By the mid-20th century, the locomotive was retired from regular service as diesel engines took over. In 1961, it was purchased by F. Nelson Blount for his Steamtown collection, and eventually made its way to the Strasburg Rail Road in Pennsylvania in 1972, where it was restored and continues to operate on tourist excursions. Today, No. 89 is a beloved symbol of North American steam railroading and is a favorite among railfans.
