HUGE California Yellowtail! Catch Clean Cook (California Deep Sea Island Fishing)

This is the 2nd video from @brookcristoutdoors and I trip to Southern California. We fished with Brian Norris of Fin Fetish Charters out of Marina Del Rey, California. On the first day we started out by catching a variety of species of rockfish (which will be in another video). Then we headed over to Santa Barbara island which is one of the many channel islands just off the California coast. We fished live sardines and live squid on bottom rigs targeting White Seabass, Halibut and Yellowtail aka Hamachi. The scenery off the California coast is beautiful and there is an abundance of life around the island. We filleted up a giant yellowtail and prepared it poke style, as well as nigiri a type of sushi dish. We still have 3 more videos from this trip, with tons of different species! Be on the lookout!

You mention a group of friends or family, eating and enjoying the sport.
I do not think there is a better way to get to spend time with your siblings and parents. I taught each of my children how to catch Walleye and trout. I just sat and listened to my daughter who was four, while she told me stories about how she saw life. It was raining and blowing as we sat under the umbrella. She stopped talking and was silent for awhile. Finally she looked up at me and commented, "I'm so glad you are my father!"
I was glad it was raining, my tears flowed freely as I put my arm around her.

Have you noticed how little love the spinning reel gets out on west coast? Typically, the spinning reel guys get the side eye from the conventional guys when they toss a surface iron.

So awesome you and Brooke are giving us west coast anglers some love.

I’ve been very excited for you to come out to California for yellowtail because I wanted to share the best ceviche recipe you’ll ever try especially with yellowtail!!
First get a serving platter and place cubed fish across the bottom cover in lime/lemon juice sea salt and couple swigs of (Valentina) hot sauce … place in fridge while preparing veggies… first shred some carrots then dice tomato, jalapeño, cilantro, onion, celery all to taste and place on top of fish…. Mix it all and put it on tostada and if you’d like add more (Valentina ) hot sauce it is honestly my favorite food to eat in the entire world… hope you try it out if not on the channel atleast some night for dinner! Thank you for all the content I truly enjoy your channel

Really fun fishing trip and cook. Pacific yellowtail looks like giant yellow jack. Same color and good fish flavor like yellow jack. Loved the 31 Bertram which I have had many great fishing trips on in Florida.
