I'm just a passerby. Saw a photo comparison of old photos of fresh fished tuna vs today. The old ones used to be huge giants, almost like cattle or horse compared to humans, but today if you get one as big as you, it is a good day probably.

I went on a fishing charter with a friend outa Boston in the mid 90's. I think we paid $1400 each. They said if we catch anything over 6 ft they get to keep it but our trip would be free and we get some nice steaks to take back to the RV. I caught a 9ft 890 lb tuna. It took us 3 hrs to get it to the surface. What a fight!

Huge Tuna, someone once told me you need to constantly change the fishing reel when you are catching these monsters because they burn out the internal mechanisms.

Tuna fishing quickly becomes a very expensive sport 😂

Loosen the drag. I always tell everyone that, especially if you handline the fish near the boat. All it takes is one good run, and that's that.

When I was 8ish we went fishing in a little little boat. The owner of the craft, my dad and me. We were at san juan bay in puerto rico. At night.
I threw my yo-yo and in time, I hooked something. It was pulling and pulling and I was scared shitless and BOTH of them took over because the fish nearly took me with him. After a looong time they landed the creature and it was an immense tuna. Nobody can believe this to this day. The boat’s owner and my dad already died, but I keep on telling the story so people are aware that one NEVER knows what the sea will offer you. Simple. 👍

if you’ve ever seen or heard tuna be called “Ahi Ahi”,

“Ahi” means fire in Hawaiian and back then whenever ancient Hawaiian fishermen would catch Tuna they would pull the line so fast and hard it would start smoking on the side of the canoe.
