Why not charging on both sides + charging AirPods and Apple Watch

Pessimistic pov to add here. As great as magnets are, this could be done to make it easier to drop lighting and USB-C down the line. If apple makes a magsafe only phone, everyone else might as well. Then you have a magsafe vs Qi2 situation (kind of already a thing, but less prominent).
Then we go back to magsafe licensed products via a chip or something.
Edit: just found the full video and it's a very similar conclusion.

Qi (v1) chargers are about to become really cheap in anticipation of qi2

Sounds like a new way to make money once lightning goes.

So they were not joking when they said Apple was removing all ports.

I don't have that problem with the pixel stand. Always charges

It sounds like they’re trying to standardize it so they can jump ship from usb c outside of the pro model

Having to disconnect the magnets gets to the same issue as disconnecting the cable imo. And using the word efficient with induction charging is just outright lies.

I hate magnets with chargers . My fitbit charger breaks very often because the magnets snap the pins into place incorrectly and that breaks the pins.

This is a good time to revisit that EU ruling... This will be an effective bypass around it.

Its all irrelevant and soon to be obsolete. South Korea has figured out how to wirelessly charge up to 100ft away! Its called DLC or "distributed laser charging" and it uses infrared lasers to transfer electrical power.
"DLC has the potential to solve problems and enable wireless power transfer. It allows for power to be provided over hundreds of meters in environments where electric transmission by copper wire is not optimal"

Sounds like a way to skip USB C. Nothing more. You can't transfer data over magnets. Not fast anyway. Useless idea.

Hold up. HOW ARE THERE WIRELESS CHARGERS WITHOUT MAGNETS?? That's just doomed to fail from time to time! Who thought of this 😂

Wireless charing is the most inefficient charging ever most if the energy will resulting in heat in future it will come Wireless electricity so devices wont even need a battery installed 😅

Wireless charging cooks a battery over time battery swells up busting the seams of your cellular device making it unsafe to use & you would think just changing out the battery particularly would fix problem nope phone is done

leave it to apple to make a obvious and vague idea only to make it something that is not a standard. Yay we all LOVE more cables.
