Vinegar + orange peel - absolutely amazing. Some suggest storing in a dark place for 2 weeks. I did this and then strained it. It becomes pretty concentrated after 2 weeks, so you can dilute with water - This stuff removed grease from my stove, my bead board and even wood floors. Strongly recommend letting it sit for at least a week for peak effectiveness on grease.

I've gotten more used to the smell of vinegar since I started cleaning with it, but I can't say I love it. I use the orange peel trick all the time, I love.it! plus, orange peels are free!

Yes, absolutely you can! We did a blog post about a bunch of different recipes you can try with herbs and citrus fruits.

I am so pleased to hear that, Chris! For wood furniture, I like using microfiber cloths and water for general dusting. I am still investigating the best options for wood cleaning otherwise (i.e. furniture polishes and waxes). Will keep you posted.

The orange peel trick has made me a convert.  I use it all the time now and am on my second bottle. The third jar is in the making as we speak. Thanks for the tip!

I ended up using the peel from only 1 orange in my jar and it worked out well

Thanks for watching!

Thank you so much for sharing these tips! I personally cannot tolerate the smell. Vinegar, in my opinion, smells rotten and very unclean. I have tried it with the essential oils and it is bearable now. Thanks!

Just tried vinegar/water combo on my kitchen tile floor for the first time. What a wonderful job it did.

Because the orange peel option can then be used in any which way you choose, so full pop or added to water.

I made the orange cleaner with vinegar and worked great. My question is can you also use lemon peels?

You can use that to clean laminate counters, tile floors, general purpose cleaning on durable surfaces that won't be affected by mild acidity...so many choices!

I don't know about you Melissa but I the smell of vinegar.
However i have infused mine in lemon and lime because i wanted to try something i saw on YouTube about freezing citrus and grated it frozen to add in food drinks or anywhere you feel like it it uses the entire fruit so less waste and way more taste! and it worked great in the vinegar.

That would be fine. Some floor installers don't like the vinegar and rubbing alcohol idea, because they say it can ruin the varnish. You can up the water and lower the other two ingredients to be safe.

Thanks for all your great ideas and the ability to motivate me to clean my house. I love vinegar and love learning about all the uses for this inexpensive, environmentally safe cleaning product. I love the smell of vinegar--it is clean and makes me want salad. What could be better? ;--)
I am a middle school teacher, and I use vinegar in my classroom. I use it to clean my dry erase board, students' desks, the windows, etc... Because of budget cuts, teachers have to do most of the cleaning in our classrooms, and vinegar is something I can use because I know that it will not cause allergic reactions. Some of the kids do complain about the smell, and I just say, think salad. Now that I learned to use orange peels to defuse the intensity of the smell, it is so much better.
I think it would be great if you did a show about cleaning our classrooms--we need it.
Keep promoting your great ideas, please. Maria
