i'm usually not that concerned with overlap as normally the overlap i see is all the best stocks of each fund anyways

Good morning
If most paid fund managers cannot beat the market, why should we as individual be in the market if we are not better than the professionals..

There's a reason why Professor G 3 portfolio made the highest return over the Bogelheads, Rick Ferri and Warren Buffet is because his portfolio is 100% stocks. The Bogelheads portfolio is 80% stocks 20% bonds. Warren Buffet is 90% stocks 10% bonds. Stocks earn more than bonds and to compare portfolios evenly put the same percentage bonds in the portfolio then do a simulation on them. When you get closet to retirement or have more than enough in your portfolio it's wise to have some bonds. Target date funds automatically convert more to bonds the closer you get to the target date

I have one foundational fund FXAIX at 20%, one dividend ETF SCHD at 20%, but I’m investing in four growth ETF’s split evenly at 15% each, FTEC, SOXQ, QQQM, and SCHG. I am 60% growth but I’m only 30. In 10 years I think I’ll back off a little, maybe 40% growth.

Thanks for a thought-provoking video. Fund overlap is one consideration, but factor loadings might be another to consider. Personally, I don't invest in same category funds that are highly correlated with each other.

I like this approach, because especially in growth, I have found that I like different ETF’s a little more/less at different times. I’ve recently added some QQQM and had just been buying SCHG. At the end of the day, I feel that having quality ETF’s that cover your 3 fund portfolio requirement in my portfolio is the most important thing! Thanks for the info! 😊

I have money to invest but should I do it myself or will a financial advisor make me more money even tho they have charges ? Do financial advisor invest somewhere different or do they just have the same funds to choose from ? Thanks Russell

If you sell your growth ETFs in your Roth IRA and reinvest them back into your IRA, will you be taxed?

I love your approach G! Personally I use VTI for my core, then satellite positions in SCHD and some individual stocks I love for the future

Professor, I'm 46 and trying to make up for missed time. How should my allocation look in my growth/div/foundational? I need to be more aggressive than others my age but I don't wanna be too aggressive.

I do 45% in schd, 35% in jepq, and 20% in VTI

I'm liking the Schwab family of etfs cuz they are cheaper than say voo or qqq, and I can buy more shares and they have similar performance. My question is, is it bad to be "all in" on one company's etf family? I've heard I'm not diversified enough and if something ever happened to schwab I'm sol. What's your opinion?

I have two ETFs that overlap quite a bit.. Voo in my brokerage and vti in my Roth. Have had vti way longer. Not planning on selling either but I add more to Voo throughout the year..
I have been divesting away from those with schd and will start adding qqqm shortly.

Please compare Berkshire Hathaway with S&P 500 and Nasdaq 100.

Video Idea.. I throw in $500 into voo every 2 weeks for this past year and things have been looking great but now voo is so high, I fell like its gonna fall eventually and feel hesitant to buy in so high. So I've been just putting the money in my brokerage account uninvested. Should I just buy high or just wait it out
