How Many Times Can We Confess the Same Sin? | Kingsmen

When 1 John 1:9 calls us to confess our sins, how often can we confess the same sin? Why do we so often feel the need to cleanse ourselves before coming before God? What does boldness mean when Hebrews say to run to him? How is Jesus our sympathetic high priest? Jon helps the listener think biblically about their sin and how God cleanses our conscience to enjoy his love and rest.

Amazing Amazing, The Lord led mean to hear this. I've been struggling a lot, with the shame and guilt of my sins. I also struggle a lot with prayer. This really gave me a sense of relief. Thank you for making this a topic of the episode. Thank you my perfect Triumph God 🙏🏾💙

I struggle with anxiety and unbelief regularly. So, hearing that Jesus will be sympathetic toward me even in my failures is a great comfort. It is an amazing thing to have a God like this!

Thanks for this, Jon!

- "Asking someone for something" means that the work or action still needs to be done.

- In contrast to asking, biblical faith implies that a work has already been accomplished and you trust that it will save you.

- Faith trusts in a known outcome, whereas asking implies an unknown outcome.

- While "asking God for forgiveness" by definition implies a certain amount of doubt, this often-used phrase is actually a subtle form of unbelief, not faith.

- As a born-again believer, you receive ongoing cleansing of sins in the community when you confess/reject your sins or their nature (1 John 1:7).

Thank you for consistently / repeatedly delivering this message. My sinful shameful heart wants me to "forget" what a great High Priest I have in Jesus. This faithful message says "remember" God loved you first, he loves you still. Run to him and joyfully repent....again.

I always worry about sins I forget about or I'll let my sins pile up and then feel despair because I can't confess everything because I know there's so much that I will forget...

I have a huge issue with 1 particular thing and the worrying thing its I think my concience is seered or almost seered because I dont feel as bad as i used to about it I used to feel like it was a dagger in my heart and now I dont feel so bad although I know its wrong and I dont want to do it I have no power against it the flesh always wins. So I wonder if I was really ever saved I dont sense His presense nor do I get answers from prayer that I can see unless im missing the answer somehow. Anyway im in a big mess with that sin in particular and others also confusion about doctrine all sorts of stuff its just awful :(

"remaining in our sin"? how is that possible for a believer who has the Holy Spirit? Certainly doesn't seem like a New Covenant "predicament"....please explain. BTW sure do appreciate your ministry and broadcasts!

Amazing, you guys are so smart and such great communicators but you still don't understand the ontology of the New Covenant...1 John 1:9 is written for those who deny sin, based on their self-righteousness. And, check out what Romans 8:9 says about a believer's flesh..."you are not in the flesh, if the Spirit of God is in you..." Anyway, there is a lot you said in this short segment but little of it proclaimed the gospel of Jesus Christ. Ask yourselves, "what did He really accomplish in His ministry?" Blessings!

Jon, what is the distinction between repentance and confession?

Folks. I used to fret over this very thing. Stop worrying yourself and talking to yourself. Reality is a lovely thing. Believe in nothing.
