🎻 Amidst the holiday season, if you are an aspiring musician or someone serious about taking their musicianship to the next level, we hope this video provides you with some insightful information in regards to making the best decision when purchasing. Certain factors play an essential role in determining the quality of an instrument and whether it is worth purchasing to begin with. Certain instruments appreciate in value over time, while many struggle to hold their value. Spencer elaborates upon the differences that distinguish a high quality instrument (investment) apart from an instrument that will not maintain or appreciate in value over time (liability).

I've seen it over and over. Parents wanting to purchase the cheapest instrument. I always recommend that they return those $75 specials. They are Instrument shaped objects! I often make the analogy, you wouldn't wear shoes that give you blisters. they must be comfortable to wear and walk in them. otherwise you will not wear them again. A musical instrument must also be comfortable to play and be able to produce music. It should be a pleasurable experience. If that doesn't work, I throw in... video game consoles cost more!

Any good violin shop will have invested a lot of effort in finding a good range of starter instruments, and they will invest the time into setting them up properly. And they will normally offer a leasing arrangement to new players, so they don't have to make too much of a commitment up front. For most people, this if by far the best way to go.

If you can't afford what they offer, you probably can't afford to learn the violin - unless you can find a loan service from a school or community programme. Because new players need a playable instrument with a decent tone - otherwise they will simply become frustrated and give up.

In conclusion, if your kid wants to learn violin, and you only have $100 in your pocket.. forget about $89 violin from Amazon.. just give up

Don't ever buy a 'beginner' violin or instrument on eBay. Indeed, I wouldn't purchase any instrument that 'caught my eye' there without a thirty-day money-back guarantee, so the worst I would be out is on the postage. Simple.

I hear you loud and clear big fella but your pi55ing up a rope trying to get the first time instrument buyer to consider the finer points of instrument purchase. Cars are a fair comparison but like I said its a tough gig. Good luck

cheap is always Good for me, but do not buy new violin if you are new( first time owner), and do not spend more than $ 200 for used or new one and you will win .

The Problem is your industry puts an unreasonable price on decent instrument . All decent instruments need to be made to high tolerances to work well. My more then professional instruments at $2500 is cheaper the the cost of a intermediate cello . The real problem is the cost of student instruments in your industry . Be serious why do violins come with friction pegs ? When basses have had geared tunersfor 200 years .
