The little scorpion thing is called a facehugger. They lay eggs in your body, which turn into chestbursters (the little worm things), and those of course evolve into the xenomorphs. Also, if the facehuggers impregnate something like an animal (a crocodile, for example), the chestburster and xenomorph will have the characteristics of the host. Thats why the normal ones look humanoid because they hatch from humans. In the comics, there was once a crocodile that got impregnated by a facehugger, and the xenomorph born from it looked like a crocodile, and it was massive. It was called a crocomorph
