These F1 tracks were oh so close to joining the calendar. Why did they fail?

Autopolis is a magical circuit with incredible corners, elevation changes and gorgeous scenery

I've raced on autopolis a lot in GT sport, it's actually a sick track. It doesn't look like much from the layout but the elevation changes in the corners (there's so many) make it a really unique and fun track, and there's so many turns that are simple on the face of it but you can take in so many ways. Really sucks that F1 never raced there.

4:20 Oh so THAT'S what Autopolis was!

Street Circiut in Moscow would have been insane to race around and was proposed in the early 70s, then it was became stuck in some party archives

A race around my childhood home of Copenhagen was being pursuit until it was deemed not green enough for the city Council. I would have loved seeing the F1 cars race across the old bridges by Christianshavn.

2:36 OMG. I didn't realize that the place I go to sing karaoke with my friends in Port Imperial was AT THE START/FINISH LINE OF THE TRACK LAYOUT. Literally, the Ferry Terminal between NJ and Manhattan is where that red arrow is.

BTW, for those not familiar, there's a significant uphill from 3-6 with a bridge between Turns 3 & 4, and from Turn 12 to Turn 15 is all downhill (and from 15 to 16 is still somewhat downhill).

Also, for the musically- or historically-inclined, just to the southwest along the same road that runs from Turns 6-12 is Hamilton Park, where Alexander Hamilton and Aaron Burr had their famous duel.

autopolis's gotta be a 10/10 for me, I've driven it in gran turismo for countless laps, and it's a very technical track

Fun fact, after a proposal to host F1 in Flushing Meadows, NY fell through, the site became famous for a very different sport, tennis

Vietnam could have been interesting, I was really looking forward to it, despite it being rubbish to drive on the f1 game

I would like to see the NY race. Having the city as a background sounds looks dope.

Being a Senna fan, just mentioning ‘the 1993 European Grand Prix at Donnington” is enough to send me into a frenzy

There was also a Danish GP in the talks at one point, round the streets of Copenhagen. A track layout was made by Jan Magnussen and Hermann Tilke, but that was however as far as it got

An F1 race at Road America would’ve been cool. 2 DRS zones (Main straight and after the Long right-hander) and lots of overtaking, I think it would be awesome especially in the new cars

4:50 oh I know this track! I´ve driven it in NFS Prostreet! Quite a good track for the normal tuned racing cars, hard to tell how F1 cars would act out there...

When I see "New York" and "Track" appers at same place I start remembering me keep crashing into the wheels and pressing the Back button on my controller for a thousand times

Road America in Wisconsin would be an awesome track for F1 but they'll never race there :(

Ontario was pretty advanced even by modern standards, and I'm fairly certain it's also the only venue to ever host Indy car, NASCAR, F1, IMSA and NHRA drag racing (They raced down pit road, which was about half a mile long.), as well as a couple of music festivals called California Jam I and II.

Knowing that Ontario Motor Speedway was 30 minutes away from my home town is hella cool and I wish it were still around but I got Auto Club Speedway

Caesar's Palace in Las Vegas is a good shout for "oof, that was a close one". It was just a run around a car park! Good thing we never went there, though. Right?

Remember Stockholm Street Circuit? It was supposed to be on the 2005 F1 Calendar.
Buenos Aires had plans for a Street Circuit in 2007.
Indianapolis planned a Street Circuit in 1990.
Even Sepoong in 1998.
Also Yvelines near Paris in 2011.
San Diego almost hosted the California GP in 2006.
Even Cancun in 2006. Too.
The Enna-Pergusa Circuit was supposed to be on the 1990 Calendar.
