Even with the slow-motion, I still can't see...

Explanation because the slow motion is too fast: the ring is flipping as it falls and thus wrapping the chain around itself, tying a knot by falling. Neat

The trick is to give a gentle nudge to the ring in the direction of falling, just as you release it. It provides a torque which leads to the chain intertwining itself 'round the ring. If you just release it like that, it won't get stuck, it'll just fall off.

I mean just in case anyone tried to perform this and starts losing their hair because it won't stuck, this is the trick.

To those that dont know how that happened,
The ring simply gave enough force on the chain that the chain went flopping through the sides of yhe ring when the ring is falling and made a tie itself
Thats the power of physics

The explanation is that the ring gets caught a little bit by his middle finger as it falls, so it spins and get caught by the chain.

I actually once took a magic lessons before, and learned a lot of tricks, but this one was my favourite

Watch carefully at 0:16 there you can see the ring has a kind of slot that can be locked/ unlocked. Then watch again at 0:29, his right hand pushed the ring to the palm of left hand to unlock that certain part of the ring then it can lock the chain.

The magic happens BEFORE the slow motion, when he's positioning the ring around the chain

The way he let’s go of the ring causes the ring to spin slightly. Notice how in the slow mo it isn’t standing horizontally, rather the ring is vertical. Because the ring is spinning slightly, the chain will loops around it toward the end.

its because when the ring falls down, the ring rotate a little bit vertical. so thats why it makes something chain reaction
