45 a crossroads but less good health and mental health life changed dramatically and fast leaving a sense of loss being lost and empty of the resilience and energy I had in 20s as I faced a similar crossroads. Where I made the right choices and used alot of focus energy and work for family and life. Making little progress other than in career. Losing job in covid lock down and only close family member my dad too. Relationship spiralling to a break up with partner. Now alone and struggling to find reason to keep living. I have skills I have potential I just haven't been able too apply to any particular purpose.

i;m 46 i believe its too late. Don't really feel like going to school to get the degree for the next 4 yrs. I will be 50 yrs old starting a new career. I'd rather die and start over going to the school and doing my career getting more success at a. younger age rather than keeping on struggling through working a job I hate right now and then going to school still. I hate my stupid parents for not giving me guidance or expert advice. just bitter and waiting to die.

Great level-headed advice. I went back to school after 30 and it was the hardest thing I've ever done. Sociology was my major as well which addresses a wide spectrum of the world's most pressing problems, but is only a starting point to further education into counselling, research, etc. She is already in the academic system so she should knock that MA out of the park! Perhaps she could build a cookie business and scale it only as demand grows to avoid risk, just a thought. I'll check out the podcast and that book! Cheers
