“Get thee to a Nunnery”

DESTROYED BY WORDS.

The actress is criminally underrated. She is amazing.

He’s such a great actor “Get thee to a nunnery” is the new “y’all need Jesus” meme and I’m using at forever now.

What makes his performance so outstanding is how he isn’t afraid of pauses. He just lets silence be, without judgement. I love that.

"Go thy ways to a nunnery, and quickly too."
"Oh, hi Mark."

It’s really jaw dropping how well he communicates Shakespeare. He clearly has an understanding of what he’s saying that really sets him apart from a lot of other actors. Incredible performance.

Someone said this on another scene from this performance, but he makes it look like he is just thinking of the words as he says them, not like he is just reciting learned lines

The timeless genius of Shakespeare's writing is only fully realized to modern audiences when it is communicated with this level of intention and honesty.

This scene is such a life lesson... Never get into a relationship with a self loathing person, they'll take it out on you.

It's one of those moments that absolutely breaks your heart. Ophelia is at her most vulnerable, putting it all out there for the one she loves most. And Hamlet, whether it's his grand plan or not, is treating her like trash to distance himself from her, oblivious to how he is destroying her anyway.

She's living it. He's killing it.

I’ve always had problems understanding Shakespeare but the way he performs, I completely understand what he’s saying and what is going on. Thank God.

I know everyone is complementing Andrew and I love him so much he did a perfect job with the character, I loved it, but Jessica was a perfect Ophelia as well. She's my favorite so far, such raw emotions, such anger, such pain and heartbreak... They were all so perfectly evident and so perfectly acted out...

andrew scott captures exactly why i fell in love with hamlet when i first read it. his anger in combination with his sadness and grief is so visceral and terribly relatable. we all act in mad ways when we’re grieving and then traumatized (by your mom marrying your uncle like a month after your dads funeral) and he perfectly captures that feeling of lashing out at everyone when you’re hurting

Wow... my friend in highschool used to say to girls at parties (who were being too* promiscuous), “where is your father? Get thee to a nunnery” ... are you gonna tell me my homie from the block was quoting Shakespeare... get the f out
