Rav4 Gen5 Auto Start/Stop disable,fast,easy,free

How to easily disable the start/stop feature on your Toyota Rav4 gen5,free and easy.
Note that this may give you a hood open light on the dash on some higher end models.

Yes, I did this before I watched this video and this works like a charm. The only downside if you leave the hood partially open it will not alert you.
But it surely disables this stupid idea of the start stop feature that everyone hates.

I have a RAV4 XLE 2021 and it's working, no alert light in the dash. The switch at the end is not a pre-collision sensor. Thirty box saved. Thank you, David.

Well i tried it on my 2023 Toyota Corolla Cross XLE Canadian model and it doesn't work. I get a picture of the vehicle in the dash with it's hood showing open and a shine keep ringing and ringing all the time. So it's always showing hood is open while driving . So i hooked it back up and i will keep pressing that stupid button to off and put up with the big yellow light in the dash. No choice. I don't think there is another way around it. I don't want to install that amazon thing on the button. In Canada, they may try to find any reason not to cover a warranty so not taking any chances. But thank you for your video, I'm sure you helped out a lot of Toyota owners.

yes, advice on youtube can be misleading.. like cobra john's post.
for everyone else: there is no way unhooking a plug that tells your car if the hood is open or not will void your warranty or disable your pre-collision sensor. It's a 2-wire plug, that means it's an open/closed circuit.
Imagine if driving around with an accidentally popped hood voided your warranty.. 🙄

Talked to Toyota dealer (Friend) and was told that that plug if not connected will disable alarm system.. this is the sensor that lets alarm know if hood has been opened..

if u have remote start. u will lose that function as well!!!! its a safety feature to prevent engine from starting while hood is open. only key can start it with the hood open!!!

Tried this and I get a warning that my hood is open.
Will not go away, every time I clear it on the dash it comes back in a minute or so and makes it so that I can’t see my standard screens with all the normal info.
Toyota probably updated the firmware to catch this.

Definitely try this first before the $30 part.

I wound up having to get the part to disable this feature.

It’s easy to install … you don’t have to tear the console apart. Just use the tool to pop out the switch. There are videos on how to do it.

This is a non issue really. FYI - push the button when you first start the car and it turns it off or just leave the ac on and the same thing happens.

So I don't understand why you don't just use the OEM switch that was designed just for this. It's on the dash below the recirc button. Button has a "A" and a rotation thing around it and an OFF.
