If you don’t ask you don’t get, but the team over at Stellantis must’ve heard this. It’s not quite everything the people have asked for, but it’s an important one: an EV pickup truck with range comparable to a gasoline rig. This the upcoming 2025 Ram 1500 Ramcharger REx, which I’ll be calling the Ramcharger from here on out.

In what’s poised to be one of the most interesting electric vehicles on the horizon, the Ramcharger will plunk the long-running 3.6L Pentastar V6 engine beneath the hood (sorry, no frunk here) and use it as a massive range extender. Think the old BMW i3, but with a much bigger footprint and output figures.

I’m looking forward to getting this vehicle. We go camping a lot and unfortunately most chargers weren’t thinking about the future of trucks with trailers. At most chargers I would have to drop my trailer just to charge and that’s a hassle that I’m not willing to do but this work for me. I own a Tesla and love the instant power of electric motors and I can’t wait to check out this truck in person.

I think it's a great idea, the V6 Pentastar is an extremely reliable motor.

Be nicer is they use dependable 4 cylinder engine for charging, fuel efficiency and saves weight plus frunk will at least be their.

We live in idiocracy times…
Government: everyone should be driving EV’s
People: we want more range
Car companies: I Know how to solve the problem…. Let’s put a gas engine on it to (Solely) charge the battery!
Me: 🤦‍♂️, This is as intelligent as seeing Tesla drivers driving around with generators attached to charge while they drive….

A Hybrid gas/EV makes more sense. The car switches to gas (with drive to the wheels) AND charges the battery at the same time.

All I can say with all the EV fires. This seems like a bomb on wheels. A full frame of EV batteries and 28 gallons of gas. No thank you.
