British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak has defended the independence of UK's state broadcaster BBC amid row over a controversial documentary series on PM Narendra Modi. Addressing reporters at Downing Street, Sunak's spokesperson echoed a statement issued by Foreign Secretary James Cleverly in Parliament earlier this week. “The BBC is independent in its output and we would stress that we continue to regard India as an incredibly important international partner,” the spokesperson said. Sunak didn't quite back the BBC; he merely said the BBC was independent in creating and broadcasting its own content. So, in a way, he is just saying that the UK govt has no role to play in this controversy.

It's time government asks Indians to use Indian platforms only. We cant play in the hands of western platforms for long for our own security. Mr. Modi has an aura where his appeal could lead many of us to change. We must make competitive platforms fast and shift. We did achieve success in UPI and digital corona vaccination.

A man who himself is not independent as he is a political representative of a particular political ideology is defending the freedom of an organization which represents a particular mindset

If Sunak intends to invest in the relationship with India using the way shown by BBC, then he should remember that India will definitely block his way of investment 😉 as it has done with the BBC investment 😉.
